Guys, getting ready to sell mine. Making room for a Comp ARF 260 and need the dough. Very little time on it. The new wings are still in the box. 3W 106 toc, Chip Hyde pipes, Hitec 5955 and 5945 servos. Awesome plane but I have to let it go. Will take some pictures and list it tonight.

Been a while since Ive checked the forum, been a while since Ive worked on the Extra, but I have moved from Australia to New Zealand so Ive been busy. I've nearly finished the build, just some last final details to work out. Should have it flying in the next week or two. By the way have you seen the 35% pilots PA have on their website?? Awesome. Plane cant fly without a pilot..

Hey guys... I am finishing my much delayed PA330, and looking for some help on locating the exits for the pull pull cables for the rudder. I'm pretty sure I have seen it this forum before, but can't seem to spot it right now. Photo's and measurements would be really helpful!

Gotta run them crossed from what I can tell. If i run them straight, they will have a lot of cable outside the fuse.... Using a CF servo arm the same width as the CF horns on the rudder. Is there a manual or drawings that I missed somewhere?

I am running them parallel no probs. This is a better way of setting up a pull-pull system.
Check your email. We’ll get you more details about the setup

Lloyd, I too am finishing my much delayed Extra. Now all that is left is to rig up new wings and we are readfy for the air...
FYI I ran my pull pull crossed with no excessive slacking when full rudder. If your servo horn is offset this works well, if not, like Shaun says, parrallel is geometrically better.

I originally was planning on crossed, but straight doesn't make much difference for the exit location. What I am concerned about is that there isn't any balsa etc to go through, just covering, at the exit points. I want to make sure I haven't missed something... I am considering putting some balsa in, reaching in blind... so that I can use it for exit supports..... Where do you see the cables exiting the fuse? I can measure from the end of the fuse side forward, excluding the tapered area for the double tapered rudder, and measure up from the bottom of the side at the point of exit...

Lloyd,
Some printed data is on your way
Now about those exists don’t worry about not having a plate there since the cables should be friction free with no obstructions. The covering is stiff (especially over the black strap which creates doublers).

Well Guys,
Today was the big day! My big Extra was finally finished and took to the air today. What a bird!! Mine was set up with a ZDZ 80cc with a canister. As the ZDZ is quite a bit lighter than other motor options I added 27mm to the front end and moved the rudder servo tray forward one bay. With batteries and smoker up front, the CG was perfect, and maiden flight required no pitch trim at all. On low rates this thing is a big ***** cat that anyone can fly, then crank on the high rates and she transforms into a monster, even with an 80cc. The thing just floats and floats on landing, shes so lightly loaded. Had three flights and Im in love with it! Now I can see what you other blokes were raving about!!!!!!!!

What would be better on this plane? a 80cc single, or a 100cc twin?? Also would maybe a 3W 85 Twin work good enough on this??

100cc twin. Of course other engines will be good too BUT there are advantages and disadvantages with this option.
With single engine you would need to work out the CG, and with 80cc twin you will get the same weight of a 100cc with less torque so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Jason went with the 80cc single engine and that will work well (with some effort on the CG adjustments and lightest gear)
Obviously the plane will fly awesome with super low wing loading.
If you already have in your possession the 3W85 twin I would say yes, go ahead and give it a go with the lightest gear you can find, but if not and you need to buy one get yourself a DA100 or the new 3W106 comp and you will have a big smile on your face at the flying field
