I am building mine now, DLE55, 3 blade Mej prop, Should be a couple weeks and it will be ready to go!. So far everything looks good, bought the interior kit just need to find the right size pilot now. Also did any one have issues with the rudder fitting in the fus area. Mine is almost an 1/8 to wide on each side at the base. The plastic starts to spread and crack if I try and fit it in place..

My rudder was a problem at the base also. a little filling wouldn't hurt probably. Where did you get the interior from?

RE: *ASM Cessna 182 (10ft) 30-50cc*

here is the link for the interior kit. I need like a 13" or 14" pilot it looks like. 12" seems to small (Gi-Joe size). I know there are a few companies that make pilots to order but $110+ is a bit much. Any other ideas out there?

$110 is about normal for this size pilot. If you check around the designer, colleter doll sites, you may find discontinued dolls at reduced rates.

Does anyone have the cowl dimensions of this plane? especially the width?
Also - how easy / hard is it to hide the seams on the fuselage where the fore and aft pieces are joined?

I am still watching this thread anticipating people's sucesses and hopefully more photos. I too, am wondering about ways to make that seam less visable. This plane is a very nice one indeed but is very expensive and it doesn't seem to have the details that some of the smaller ones have like nice carbon fiber landing gear, light capsules, smoked canopy glass, 1980's paint sceme etc. If I buy one of these, those are the first things that I would change. I am one of those people that like to "personalize" the things that I own, LOL.
Could some of you guys that are building this plane include some pictures and hopefully more flight videos? That would be great if you would. I would like to see this thread really take off - I really think it will!

I Picked one up and am putting it together now. Its impressively huge! The only thing i'm not happy with is the red paint on the cowl doesn't match the fuse...its a shade off... the wings are a shade off the fuse as well. Other than that, this plane seems to be built very well and is going together very nicely. I can't wait to fly it. I'm putting a DA 50 in it.

What's the latest updates guys??? Someone was doing a new blue and white paint scheme, how is that turning out? Can someone go into more detail with some pics about the rudder being to wide to fit into the fuse. Any more video's?

I am the one working on the blue and white color scheme. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed working on an airplane as much as I have this one. Still progressing. Base coat of white is now complete.

How about some pictures....

Ok Gents... just something to consider'. having a 1/2 dozen flights on mine. The Cessna flies just great & very scale on a 50cc, I'm using a Fuji 50 EFI. But... With the size of the cowl and the amount of nose weight need to obtain the correct C.G. You might was to install a larger, heavier engine like a G-62 or sorts. Reason: The tail moment being as long as it is... requires a good deal of nose weight. I ended up using 3lbs 4oz with the Fuji. A G-62 would add usable weight up front, plus the Cessna would have all the power you'd ever need. Plus having the power to turn a nice 3-blade prop if one would want too. Just something to consider. Glenn.

So would a g62 be better than Bme 44

RE: *ASM Cessna 182 (10ft) 30-50cc*

rtigg : As for weight & balance YES', power, YES. As for quality of engine... That is for you to decide'. [8D] G.

What servos would be best. What have you used on this plane

Does anyone have the length from the longest point on the rudder to the front of the nose wheel. Trying to see if I can fit this plane in my truck. Thanks.

Here you go: Longest part of the rudder (top tip trailing of rudder) to the nose wheel is 80" inches. Also then too the very tip of my Tru-turn spinner is 91.5" inches... Glenn

Glenn,

Thanks for the info. I hate to break the plane down behind the rear window to haul it so that would put the nosewheel past the bed and 10" out on the tailgate. Just not sure if I want to haul it that way or not. How do you haul yours?

I have a 14ft enclosed trailer...

RE: *ASM Cessna 182 (10ft) 30-50cc*

Glenn,

I wish I had the luxury of a trailer but I dont'. Aeroworks has a new 110" S2 Sport Cub that looks nice and will fit in the back of my truck. I would rather have the 120" Cessna as it would be very impressive at the field and nice to fly as well. I fly the Sig Rascal 110 with a G26 and the H9 1/4 scale Taylorcraft with a DLE 30.

well guys i have mine with a G62 in it, futaba 14 ch receiver( lights, etc). had to make custom stand offs , but mounted great. very minumal cutting to cowling. I put batteries and dual switches inside door. wasnt to thrilled with wires for rudder.

rtigg,

How did the CG turn out by using the G62? Have any pics of the engine install and how much of the cowl had to be cut?
