It's a great flying plane . Changed the front landing gear on mine. They made the wires a little long and it really liked to bounce on landings. My son crashed his Mach 2 and I put the front gear in my Racer. Ended all the bouncing and still have great prop clearance. I have brought mine in for a landing with a 10 mph wind and just set it on the ground with no roll. The Mach 2 is a favorite among pylon racers. It's a great plane too. The LA Racer is basically the same plane, just a rounded fuse versus a square fuse on the Mach 2, plus the racer has 2 servos on the ailerons versus 1 on the Mach 2. I have a Mach 2 and have flown it almost as hard as I have the Racer. I have also fluttered the ailerons on the Mach 2 twice doing high speed dives with it. Luckily I got it on the ground both times without tearing it up. My son wasn't so lucky. That's where a got the landing gear from. Really makes a difference on landing.

Don't know why they made the gear longer. Guess I should tell em they have a problem with the longer gear. My brother has a blue and white one. Had the same problem. Put old Mach 2 gear on it and fixed his too. Mine is green and white, with a few patches from weeds on the bottom ripping covering. I will check yours out in your gallery. Don't even know what I have in my gallery....

Does it fly? OHHH HEAH! First I had an OS 120 Surpass pumper up front and it was flipping awesome. Then, I wanted that engine for a warbird so I swapped it with a DLE 20 and it was even crazier. I put it into temporary retirement until I can strip it and fix a few things and recover it. Prolly this winter. Awesome flying airplane.

hey steve, do my eye's deceive me or are those exhaust pipes crimped shut on your skybolt. did you have to add weight to the tail or move it around or put it in the nose for the dle 20cc?

Rcjunky, I have mine pinched on my skybolt also. The pitts style muffler doesn't hold as much back pressure as a standard muffler and will sometimes starve the engine for fuel so you have to pinch em a little bit to keep sufficient pressure to the fuel tank.

Hey rcjunky, what pic are you looking at of my skybolt? I don't remember for sure, but I don't think I had to add much at all to balance. Remember I said it originally had an OS 120 surpass in it. The DLE is close in weight so it was an easy swap. I know it wasn't much weight added, if any.

uh, I was looking at the pic in och;s post #756. thought the pick was a reference to an earlier pic from on of your post. oop's... when I run a pitt's on my o.s.55ax's, I cross drill the outlet pipe's and put a 6x32 bolt through them with a nut on the other side. I do this close to the muffler body that way it's usually all inside the cowl so I don't get someone asking me why my pipes are bolted on. don't change the sound much and is easily adjustable by varying the bolt size to get what I need for back pressure
how does it sound with the pipe's pinched like that och?

For the most part, me neither. But yesterday I took my TF Mustang up with an OS 120 Surpass pumper and burned 3/4 of a gallon. That was nice. I'm going to try again today. Unfortunately, most of my planes have some sort of damage right now. Haven't had too much time for maintenance and repairs. But winters a coming.

Week before last got to fly 4 mornings in a row before work, even maiden a 60 size sportster, its got my first 65 os ax in it and was fast and on rails! the ground handling is very good for a tail dragger, very happy with the plane. This week only got to fly once and the weather has been just about perfect!

Yeah, I'm hoping to get the mustang back in the air again today, if the family events don't last the whole day. It's tough when you want to build, fly, and spend time with the fam and only get a day or two off to do it all. This year I've found it difficult to keep up with the maintenance and repairs. Most of my fleet isn't airworthy at this point. Not enough hours in the day. Also, gotta train the thumbs not to lawn dart any more planes. That would help.

My Mustang just needs landing gear towed in a little, it s ground handling is terrible, time is tough to find also work 12 days in a row with only two weekends a month off, with working on the house and garage not much time for planes. As far as the thumbs good luck with that, thumbs are idiots!

Maybe some of you guy's ought to do the same. Just set up a small ,hard to handle plane that you don't have a big investment in and wake them DT's up before you fly the bigger, more$$$ stuff that's in your hanger's. I know mine has saved me a ton of money, and nerves.
Just my .2 worth

I keep a Mach 2 in my hangar all the time. On low rates its a mild easy to fly plane. I have the high rates set high in on high rates, it's a handful. First plane I fly after not flying for a while. I use it to get rid of the jitters and relax. Oh, and this one is # 4. I have extra parts in case of me...
