The only time I use my ball side of the ball pein hammer is to make gaskets. (for the cars) Gaskets again - still... It is a gasket thread. It is ok to blow off some steam but don't blow a gasket.

I've never been able to find it. Only the black/dark grey gasket material similar to the intake manifold gaskets for a small block Chevy. That stuff is too thick though - I'd go back to 60-70# cardstock or 20-30# Xerox paper. 20# Xerox paper is probably pretty close to the onion skin gasket paper thickness if not a tad thicker. I don't think anyone sells 15# Xerox paper anymore.

From my experience it seems a .007 thick gasket is about what is used. Here is are links to gasket material in various thickness. http://www.lubbockgasket.com/gasket_material.html and another http://www.garlock.com/en/products/vegetable-fiber and this one that looks like a "fair" deal http://www.equalseal.com/product-p/v...oll-006-36.htm

I wonder if you can still get onion skin typing paper?
Curiosity will get the better of me, I'm sure...will have to check...
I remember many years ago my mom using "onion skin" typing paper.

Edit...yep...it's still around...
