Ive had more trouble with Thunder Tiger engines than any other . O.S. none , thats why I jump to their defense . Trust me if they gave me grief I would be the 1st to say . Im one of the first to get something new but if its a dud Ill be the 1st to jump off the bandwagon too . If a engine runs great with a air bleed carb whats the problem ? Cheers
A buddy of mine had the Thunder tiger 46 pro on a Twist 40 and it ran just as hard as my 46ax.

What you're paying extra for is the break-in that the box does in shipment, and a carb that works well. But there are a lot of other engines out there with equally easy Carburetors to set.
I dont hate OS engines. If I did, I'd have just thrown the engines I currently have away. I think they have some good features, but the ones where they lack are the most important IMO.

Hi there Speedy , I had 2x TT10 engines and 1 has been great and the other no matter what I did would get stinking hot as in too hot to let keep running . I sent it back under warranty and it was promptly lost . They replaced that one and thats been a pig to keep running as well . Funny how they have airbleed carbs as well , no issue there . The 54 4stroke also a airbleed ! but they did go to twin needles later on . That engine went rich and no matter what it couldnt be leaned out , it had a faulty seat so I replaced the parts and its ok now . No biggie just sayen . So my win to loss ratio is at T.T. %50 . OS %100 . I also have a O.S. 52 4stroke to compare to the T.T. and that is a cracker of a engine and more powerful as well . Both are no longer in planes and with the way I move may be there for a while too . Too many engines too little time . Cheers the pope

I agree that a $700 engine ought to have the best carb possible. However, I bet that none of those engines will ever see fuel. They will be showpieces reminding their owners of the passing of the glow engine age. That's why OS and Saito are producing these super slick looking "Special Edition" engines. They see the end of glow engines and think that a lot of buyers will jump on the special engines for collecting purposes, not running them.
What's wrong with Ford? They spank Lamborghini!!! Ok,, I am little biased.

An end to the glow age?? Hell no! So long as there's blood in my veins I will run glow power, screw that sissy electric crap!
Sure I like gas motors as well, but I refuse to jump on the electric bandwagon, it will be just like when they shoved 4 strokes down the throats of us motocross guys, sure I own a new crf450, but I'd love to be able to buy a new cr250r, so much cheaper to ride and maintain.

I drive a Hemi Ram everyday and a Chev S-10 with a 400hp 350 for when I feel like doing burnouts or doughnuts.... Those Mustang and Ecoboost guys wont stand much of a chance once I get some slicks and a hair dryer on the Chev.
Ford = OS in my book. Sorry guys.

I've always compared OS to Honda, there the only other company I know that's just as arrogant as OS, I love Honda cars and Honda dirt bikes and most stuff that honda makes, but now and again they put out gold plated crap and call it bullion.

I've had my share of exotica over the years, two Fitzpatrick .61's, a Conley 1.20 and an Abitar 1.20, a HiMax .91 and a 1.20. They were shelf queens, so I sold them. I had an Enya 1.20 GP, it went the same route.

I am a runner collector. I run everything I collect. I don't collect highly prized/valuable engines - if I did I'd ruin them by running them. My Eleanor engine is the Enya VT-240. I'd never fly it, but darn tootin I'd run the thing!

The Fitz was a gem. I was just playing with my little LA .10. motor housing broke in a crash at the carb, that is why I got it for free. It will now be control line. It had no airbleed. Did not need one. My TTiger .10 was no match and hard to start, TTiger .25, .15, .10 and .07s are all slugs. The .25 would not even run at full throttle. Mr. Pope I hear your complaints, and raise you three. The TTiger pro .40s that I have seem good so far. I think airbleeds are OK if the overall throat is on the smaller side, so the transitions are good. The big holes are what cause problems in the more performance type motors. The .12s in question are pretty small to adjust a little needle valve. No I won't stand in line to buy one of them. I still think anodizing and plating affect the cooling of a motor, but they look pretty which seems to matter for sales at least. As for a previous note about shorter breakin. The ABC or ABLs are great for that. They expand when hot which is why they are so popular and the old style is, well, the old style. My little Picco .12 felt like a perfect fit right out of the box and ran like that too. The little Picco .049 too, but I have not run it yet. Fords and Chevys? Oh no. This thread could go on forever.

I have a 15 year old Picco .28, and a Novarossi .21 from the same time period and they're great engines. Tightest buggy engines I've ever had. Have also a modern Novarossi .28 - not as tight, but they don't have to be super tight to be rocksteady. The Italians pride themselves on quality and it shows with Picco and Novarossi. Im dumping all of my Chinese buggy engines in favor of Picco or Nova engines. They're at such a good value these days - engines 10 years ago that cost $400-500 are now $160-220. They're a bargain when looking at value. Someone once said - price is what you pay, value is what you get.

Well they ran one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB1S5iyrg5M
also, video of the engine being made, you'll not find any cast lines on the crankcase, possibly one of the many reasons the engines cost so much is that the whole thing is machined. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voT99lKWEKE
I know I was the first to bring up the air bleed carb, but if it works well then no big deal.
Ayny wany, I wish they would come out with a "normal .11AX, got a sig wonder kit that would be awesome for a hot .10 size engine

Deal, an example woulod be a SuperTigre .51, on glow it turned a Graupner 12x6 at 10,100, converted a it turned a Graupner 12x6 three blade at 10,000. A Maloney 1.25 turns a 15x8 at 7,200 on gasoline and as a conversion turns a 15x8 three blade at 7,200. By my ciphering the third blade is a 50% increase in load.
The Fitzpatrick didn't do as well, it's port timing was just too wild to make a viable Diesel conversion.

Or a Jett 15!!!! Awesome!!!
Recently the Magnum 15 had been the standard for combat people. But now that Tower dropped Magnum, nobody has an equivalent except NV Engines. ASP has a 12 and a 21, but not a 15 except the humble AP 15 which is really a .135 at the size of a .10.
I forgot NovaRossi has a .15 also. Seems HOT, but on the heavy side.

I had asked Dub awhile back if he'd consider making RC car engines or some small .09-.21 engines and he said the demand is too low to warrant making either of them. Too bad - a BSE .09 or .15 would be georgous.
#122
Yeah, too bad!!! We can dream about it though. Maybe with the advent of $700 .11 engines, some engine makers might change their minds?

Just wondering out loud how old Ken Enya is. Will things keep going, or is it just a one man show? I have seen a lot of one man shows go. Fox, K&B... As for shiny engines, I have a blue LA .25 on my blue and yellow Honker biplane that is a perfect match. No cowl needed there. Maybe a yellow Tornado prop?
