What is everything you have hooked up to that think, more specifically that coil on the head?

I'm curious about that

Thanks, that engine sound marvelous, and I love watching those rocker arms go like they do!! I bet you couldn't do that do a Saito (running it without the valve covers) or could you??

Bill, do you have any idea where that info is about running the valves tight on the Saitos? Is it in this huge thread? I have taken a peek and not found it yet. A friend needs it. Thanks!

Bill,
I think I've got a problem.
Just in from flying my Saito 1.00 powered UCD 60.
I'm able to fly in back on our acreage.
I was messing around doing inside 1/2 loops then pushing into a outside 1/2 loop, etc going on up.
I run 25% Sig fuel 1/2 the oil content is castor the other 1/2 is synthetic.
15X6 APC prop.
Anyway I started hearing a banging noise like maybe the cowl was loose or the muffler was about to drop off.
I immediately throttled back and landed.
Nothing loose but...
When I pull the prop up against compression and then move it back and forth sounds like something is loose inside...maybe even the piston.
It was running when I landed and it was idling until I killed it.
I'm afraid to start it again until I find the problem and I don't want to just start tearing it apart.
Any ideas?

Well, the plot thickens...
I took the back cover off the case.
There was a small amount of metal shavings.
It looked like the rod end had touched the inside of the case.
Couldn't figure how that could happen.
Looking at the rear bearing that shows around the crank it looks like the darn retainer is coming apart!
I can't figure this.
The engine has less than 6 gallons thru it and I don't abuse it.
It was new in August.
I wonder if Horizon will warranty?

I've been into this in a couple other threads, but it's been a while. All the duration changes and the increased lift can be seen with just a little thought and thinking about the geometry involved.

I flew my RCM 40 yesterday with one of the last Saito .50s available, I was using S&W 15% Hi Rev fuel and a 12x7 ProZinger. What a combo for economy, I flew my usual 12 minutes with the radio timer set and took my good ole time landing. I had used less than a third of the tank of fuel, I flew another 12 minutes and still didn't use it down to half. The .50 is a winner in every way. Take offs using the 12x7 were very short affairs. The RCM is surprisingly fast set up this way.

I recently purchased a CG Ultimate with a Saito 1.50 on it.Awsome combo.Currently using a 16x6 APC prop.Any other prop suggestions for this setup?BTW running 30% coolpower for fuel.It does well now,just thinking that you guys may know of better setup.I also have another 1.50 on its way for my winter project.I love these engines.

Dear Bill

I could not resist the urge to try a Saito 82 any longer and bought one - sounds awsome . I want to know if could use the breather nipple sa a pressure source for the Iron Bay fuel regulator .Were should I tap the engine if the muffler does not provide enough pressure and if the breather cant be used?

I hope i can join the club.

Gerrie, the muffler will give you more than enough pressure, the tank will swell just like a YS does. Put the check valve right at the pressure tap.

I strongly recommend a castor blend fuel, the cams just last a lot longer. Coolpower is all synthetic. Try the Omega fuel. I wont say not to use 30% nitro, but all I run in mine is 15%. Omega, of course.

I go with Hobbsy on the pressure source for a Cline or Iron Bay system. Stay with the muffler tap. The crank case vent can be used, but since an atmosopheric vent is still needed, it can get complicated.

I just bought a New Saito 200 V-Twin on ebay. I plan on putting it in a Hanger 9 P-51.
My plan was to use an on board glow system. I see that the engine comes with a wire set up for two plugs. Will the other two plugs light on there own and which two should I wire up? The front two or back two?

Hi Michael,

The coil is for water. I plan to put this engine into a model boat. Since it won't have a prop blowing cooling air, the water flowing through the coil surrounding the cylinder hopefully will suffice. Although I am considering a small fan as well.

As for the engine rocker arms, well this is in fact a Saito.

Heat only the rear plug in each cylinder. The front plug will be lit by the combustion when the engine starts.

And you are now listed as number 122 in "Club Saito."

Hey Guys, member #50 (pg 6&7) checking in with some updated pics and a question.

The 182 has been running well except for some stalling after flipping it. Has anyone used the cline regulator on one of these? I got one but I couldn't get it to work well even after opening the needles about six turns. Maybe the dual carbs need 2 regulators?

Also It runs well without the regulator with the HS needles set at 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns out. Does that sound right? It is kind of tough to tune this thing by RPM.

How did you attach the CPU fan to it? I might need to do the same with the FA40 I want to put into a boat.
