Thanks!

I'm mostly concerned with keeping the RPM's in check with this fairly speedy airframe, and keeping enough ground clearance, although it isn't that big of a deal to make a new taller set of legs for the SS60.

I have a Saito 150 looking for a new home. I was looking at the Extreme Flight Yak 54-74". Anyone have any experience with this set-up? I am afraid of under powering this plane. Any other suggestions??????

HELP!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!
My Saito 100 Is running on 30% coolpower heli fuel. The engine idles great and runs 9300 RPM WOT sounds good!!! My problem is when I go WOT and chop to idle it comes down great and then dies!!!!! I've been tuning high and low needles and replaced the plug with new. It dies every time no matter how rich or lean th LS is. I have not had a problem when i was flying on 15% coolpower. All the fuel lines are new, new dubro fuel filter and there are no bubbles in the intake line at the carb. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me approximately what page the post for setting the LS and HS needles is on? My 1.25 seems to be sucking too much fuel (14oz. per 9 minutes) at no more than three-quarters throttle. That seems to be a bit high. I'm running a Top Flite 15-8 at 8400 rpm.

Set HS needle at absolute peak with a tprop that wil;l let it rev to about 9,000 rpm
Then procede to lean LS needle 1/8th turn at a time checking top rpm and transition after every other change, at some point it will hesitate when opening the throttle a little. Back off 1/8th turn rich on the LS needle, richen top rpm down about 200 and see what you have at that point, it should be close to right on.

Try replacing your glow plug. Also, if it runs well on 15% Coolpower, why use 30% heli. I experimented with both of these fuels in a FA-100 and came to the conclusion that 15% works well and that 30% heli is not worth the extra money.

I flew the 1.25 in my Nitro Models Sea Fury today after leaning out the L.S. needle with corresponding adjustments to the H.S. needle. I used 8 oz. of fuel for a nine minute run. Much better fuel consumption. By the way, once I calmed down the throws on ailerons and elevator, it flew perfect with the sweet sounding 1.25. I only needed one click of down elevator trim. Haven't tried the flaps yet, but they need to be deployed to slow the beast down.

Thanks Hobbsy

Hi Everyone,

I use an APC 14x4W on my Saito 82 for 3D. I have both a Saito 100 and 125 that I need a 3D prop for and I am looking for your suggestions.

Thanks Al

Hi Everyone,

Thanks Al
Try a 16x4W APC on your 1.25. I tried one and it worked well, but I actually prefer the 16x6. The 16x4W didn't give me as much speed as I wanted. It's really just personal preference, but if you want true 3D performance, you will probably like the 16x4W on the 1.25.

I haven't tried any 3D props on my 1.00. I have used a 14x6 and 15x6, and I prefer the 15x6. My 1.00 is on a Mustang, and it isn't a 3D plane.

Can someone help me? I need to put in new bearings in my Saito 100 and I'm not sure how to re time the cam shaft to the crank shaft. I do see the mark on the cam shaft gear, but how does that line up with the crank? Thanks, Dan.

Dan, the timing mark goes straight down to the 6 o'clock position when looking at the engine front or rear.

Have you taken your motor apart yet? It's been a while since I've had one of mine apart, but I seem to recall that there was a punch mark on the teeth of the cam and the crank that needed to be lined up. You have to put something down one of the pushrod holes to hold the cam gear from spinning out of alignment. I think I used a toothpick.... You definitely have to do something to hold that cam from spinning, though. You'll never get them together accurately if you don't.

Like I said, it's been a while. Can someone else smooth this out for Hayman?

Bob

The mark on the cam goes straight down with the piston at top dead center

Remove the intake valve lifter and insert the small end of a pushrod through the intake lifter cavity and into the oil hole in the cam that will be aligned with the lifter hole when the dot is straight down.

While holding the crankpin at the top of it's travel, insert the cam assembly onto the crankcase while holding the cam in the proper orientation with the pushrod inserted through the lifter hole.

Thanks for correcting me, Jim. It had been a while. I thought that there were matching marks on the cam and crank... Thanks for setting that straight for me...
