Back in 54/55 I built a Jasco RC kit that I remember as the Jasco Electra. Powered it first with a Wasp .049 which was just enough power for a nice long powered landing. Replaced the .049 with a Cub .074 diesel for the first successful flights. The radio Equipt. was a single hard tube Rcvr. built from a kit from Ace RC operating a Babcock escapement. The Tx was a single tube unit built from a schematic taken from the Ace Grid Leaks Publication. About one flight in ten was successful (meaning any flight that ended on the same field as the take-off, hand launched by the way). A great experience all the way.

That's the one! Your experience puts a date on it for me. It shows a hard tube receiver, so I figured early fifties.
It did look a little biggish for an 049 and all that gear, I was thinking of just that engine, the cub diesel, for mine!
Not sure whether I am going to use a modern radio. I may use a citizenship escapement system. Still a lot lighter than your babcock rig!
I have a couple of yards of checkerboard silk socked away for this project...

EASYTIGER, Are you building from a kit or do you just have a set of plans. what a kick. It would really be fun to put one of these together with some modern Equipt. I just bought a Hi-tec 555 Rx for a Magic 3D that I,m assembling. One of these with a couple of mini-servos and a triple A battery pack would be great for this plane. Fly all day for pennies. Good luck with your project.

I just found these postings. I am just finishing a model (from memory and a family pic ). I am interested if anyone followed through and built one? If so, I would like to correspond with them.

Thanks,

I remember that kit. Never had one, but a buddy did and the plans were very well drawn as I remember. Anyone got a copy of the plans I could obtain?

Frank, I scanned the plans but the were about 20 meg so I could not e-mail them. I made a CD for Larry and sent it by mail so he could print them at his local Kinkos. PM me your address and I can send you a CD.

Could you E-Mail me with a photo or small reproduction of the plan? I worked for Jasco during the 50's and perhaps I can provide some information on the model.
