RE: WACO YMF
Thank's Bill and yes. The magnet's were not strong enough or to small a gap between the cowl and fuse or both. The cowl was moving forward and rubbing the prop. In the video if you still pause it at 4:15 you can see what look's like awhite ring, that's the fiberglass showing, being stripped of paint. No damageto the cowl.I added another magnet to the opposing side and cut the cowl another 1/4" away from the fuse. Should give better cooling and definately not pulling away now. I'll find out tomorrow.

Let me clarify that a little.Originally I put 4 rare earth magnet's on the cowl mount's and screw's on the fuse mount's.The screw's did not have enough of a contact point. Now I've got rare earth magnet's on the fuse side as well. And pulling the cowl off is difficult now.

Another productive day at the field. The cowl stayed put, throttle did it's job. A good day.
Thank's Jim, and yes they are real nice plane's.

Robert,
Sorry, I don't have any measurements on the lettering. Eyeball it from the picture of Lonnies Waco, it looks like it is about 4 stringers tall. If you check http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text...1.3.22.3.363.3 which is about Title 14 Part 45 - Identification and Registration Marking and go to subpart 45.23 Display of Marks and subpart 45.29 Size of Marks You can find the info you need as it is too long to put here.

Robert,
Much smoother and looking good. since the throttle is working better now I have a suggestion, throttle back at the top of the loops. It will look and sound more realistic. It also looks like you have it pretty well trimmed for level flight with the tail high.

Robert,
Its obvious that you have a great flying Waco. Now, If I may, a couple of suggestions: First, use a little more throttle management. As John noted, a throttle back at the top of the loop is best. Second, You are not at an air race and the model will fly very well at far less than full throttle. You might want to look at going from your 17X8 prop down to a 17X6. This will slow the model down, but will give you more power.

to all,
going to try and post pictures of the build again.
[img][image[img][image[img][img][img]
building is slow, rudder and elevators just tempory, still more work needed on fairing piece above stab. a adjustable stablizer is installde and working smoothly with 0 to about plus 3 degreese of adjustment
it will work off flaps servo. when tail is finished i'll move forward and finish instillation of rest of gear, cover then the wings. lot of work left thank god time is on my side.

RE: WACO YMF
Bill and John, excellent advice and today went more scale like. Today most of the flight was at half throttle and flew quite well. Having gotten past the initial feeling that it is about to fall out of the sky, much better flight and throttle management. Quite frankly those first couple flight's I was scared sheetless. This is a great plane and I love it but I will add It flies like nothing else I've ever flown. As for the prop. the manufacturer recommends an 18/8 for flight. I started with the 17/8 just for break-in but today I put a 17/6 and it seemed like it did not load the engine enough. So I'm sticking with 17/8 for now. Just use the throttle properly as you guy's advised.

RE: WACO YMF
On another note, Thank you Bill for the adjustable stab. It work's great. Initially I started at 2.5degs and the tail was a little low so I went to 3degs. Now it look's as it should and flies good and the elevator is trimmed level with the stab,Zerotrimon the radio. Now in flight if I raise it toward's 4degs it want's to lose altitude and vise versa on lowering. So it work's like it should. Next time out I'm going to see how lowering it effect's landing. In these regard's I would really appreciate your advice.
Thank's

Robert’s having way too much fun so I started repairs to my landing gear I should have it ready to go for a Wednesday flight. It will be kind of neat to see two Waco’s side by side at the field.

Acerc.
Congratulations on the successfull flights; I need to ask you a favor, it has been mentioned before by upper management ( Bill ) that the Waco will make turns by the use of the rudder only, so would you please try using the rudder only and report back.
Thank you.
Angel

RE: WACO YMF
Angel, most plane's will turn with rudder only, some easier than other's. The cub for example does it real well. While something like the B-25 is not as easy, at least not mine. Keeping the wing's level with a rudder turn is even more fun. I have no duobt the waco will turn nicely with rudder only. For most of us rudder is an integral part of flying. Or at least it should be. But I will do and get back with you.

Chris,
That looks like a pretty fair representation of the modern (square yoke) tail wheel in picture 5. Did you make it or where did you get it? The rest is coming along nicely.

Bill,
Here’s what I have so far. I didn’t have any 1/16 for the cap strips so I used 3/32 I like the way it looks
Chris,
Your Waco’s looking good is it a 33%?
