Default Help with electronics for an old savage

Hey guys, just picked up a used Savage .21 and am kind of baffled with a problem Iam having. Iput 4 AA's in for the receiver power and powered the receiver on. I can see the throttle servo twitch for a quick instant and then nothing....no power to anything. It was almost like there were near-dead batteries powering the receiver....so Ichanged them to new ones....and still the same problem. It's the old RF-2 receiver, 4 channel AM 27.145mhz yellow crystal. None of the wires from the battery pack/servos are in bad shape and Ihave tried just plugging in one servo at a time thinking one was drawing all the power or something. But no luck, and I can't even get the savage to respond with the radio. I'm not new to RC but I am not an expert......anyone have an idea or do you think the receiver is fried?

are both crysals present and accounted for? Are they both the same freq? Could also. be a bad/broken crystal set.

Something must be working due to the servo twitch. Perhaps it's the transmitter? What about the batteries in it? And I agree.....crystals are fragile. Your LHS might let you try crystals to see if it fixes things without having to buy them first.

Please don't insulted, but I've accidently put a battery in backwards before. Maybe you did too? Check the battery polarity in both receiver and transmitter.

Had the same symptoms a few weeks back with my jato....new crystals fixed the issue.
