Is the F4.1 engine much better than the S25 ? , I installed the Picco .28 straight away in my X without even running the F4.1 as I wanted to sell it brand new.

I run the Stock motor with a Mugen Flywheel and Aluminum clutch setup and Racign clutch. The motor hangs with all the other's a the short track I'm running.

when that 4.1 has a good tune it rocks. It has enough hp to drag it's heavy but around the track. They are Cheap on ebay now. Drop one in your tool box as a back-up

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
Well I can say that my Savage was pretty fast on the racetrack with the stock engine. The track is short and the little engine had enough power to push short gearing around it pretty good. I was slower at first after swapping in the LRP as it demands much better throttle control. That's why alot of Savvy racers choose to run the HPI 4.6 engine or something like the Sportwerks.26. The Savage has enough gearing options to make up for the lack of power, and the smoother and more conservative powerband makes the truck easier to control.

The whole Dyno thing is a very touchy subject! Look around and see what the pros are using at the track.
Big motors with high hp is not always the best thing. Before you people spend big coin on motors they need to look at a bunch of other stuff
Need to be able to drive
Track condition
Weather
Tires
Clutch
Gearing
That just names a few things. Most of the time it comes to correct setup period.

That's still no faster than a old S25 LE....assuming HPI is really giving you the right info.
Why HPI didn't put the 3spd in the X is beyond me. If it had a 3spd, I'd believe them.

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
well the guy at work has the 3.3 maxx stock. I told him I have the .21 savage with a .25. He talked crazy. I let him know its not stock, he lost 100.00. So now he bought the trinitty .21 maxx motor and I a colari .32, so now not only a 3 speed, .32 and gear changes, i am looking to gear my diffs, which is the only thing which makes the maxx and revo quicker. I got this info from an rc show I attended!!!

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
I have had my Savage at 48 mph with OS 30VG, 3-speed transmission with high speed gear, 47T/18T. Used Bushnell Velocity Radar Gun so it has to be with in a couple mph. Granted the engine was leaded out but no temps over 280. Engine still had enough low end to flip. I will to post video for all the haters.

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
The X4.6 is supposed to be a 43-44 mph truck, Hpi advertises it as their fastest Nitro Savage to date. Note that is the RTR and not the SS. Of course, everybody posting in this thread no longer cares, even GraveDigger, I mean Black Mamba, has escaped to the Electric World... Nice to see the search engine being used... 2006... Cool man... my .28xz revo will do 55mph on my basher gearing, it will still flip the revo over at 40mph. luckly i run a wing so it dont totaly flip over just do a huge wheelie...geared to the max it will do 65mph.....oh and is it tough...hell yeah.just like with any mt, land on all 4's and you will be alright.
