RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
I know a stock Revo is faster than a stock Savage X but this alone can't be used to decide which truck to buy as both those trucks are so different.
Anyway if it's only speed that matters you could put the .25 engine that comes with the X on ebay plus the $80 difference between the Revo 3.3 and Savage X and get an LRP spec 3 or Picco .28 and beat the Revo in a drag race.

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
The question was how fast does it go. Drummerboy is obviously looking for speed. Sure you can drop a bigger motor in the X but the revo will be all around faster period! I own 2 Savage X's including a race prepped version and if the drivers are the same the Revo will come out on top at the track. Bashing is a diffrent story.
I use my CRT when I want to kill some revo's at the park.

Is the Revo THAT far behind the Savage X in terms of bashability? I've never even considered a Traxxas product, but lots of people seem to be raving about the new Revo(and new T-MAXX for that matter...)

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
From what I see the Revo is a tough truck. They are getting close to the savage is toughness but I doubt the could outbash it[>:]
Revo's have problems also just depends who's on the other side of the Transmitter.

Any non-modified Savage .25/4.1 on 30% with a 2spd trans and stock 15/49 gearing will run low 30s to a max of mid 30s depending on the tune. Put a 3spd in the same truck and it will run mid 30s to high 30s max depending on the tune.

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
I don't know about in the States, but here in Germany they advertise on a Savage 25 box that it can do 60kph (= 36 mph). On the SS box it says 66kph(about 39mph).. On a Revo 2.5 box it says 65 kph...
I don't know how accurate if at all those numbers are, but given that the X a.) is lighter, and b.) has a slightly more powerful motor, and that stock gearing is the same, it should be faster than a Savage 25 I would think..
There's also an official Losi LST2 ad I've seen with a radar gun pointed at one, showing 42mph.
All of those numbers may be BS, but wouldn't they be about right, RELATIVTELY(to each other), or comparatively, speaking?

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
well if you're hitting a curb (which isn't such a great idea) then get the x so that you don't have to sit there and fix sh*t all day like you would on a revo

RE: SAVAGE-X SPEED?
In my opinion if you want all out speed why would you by and off road vehicle? You can buy RTR on road vehicles that will run 60 MPH out or the box or more. I have yet run my Savage where you could run it 60 MPH and still handle it! I am just getting in to racing and believe me on a track all out speed is going to do more harm then good! Handling and durability is much more important.

Is the F4.1 engine much better than the S25 ? , I installed the Picco .28 straight away in my X without even running the F4.1 as I wanted to sell it brand new.
