Default GRRR FAILSAFE'S!!!!

Man why is one of the most important things for a nitro car manufactured SO badly?
My old failsafe engaged if you move the throttle servo too quick. My new one (Mirage) works great when you lose signal, but it doesnt engage when the battery is below 4v (which it should do, as it says on the instructions).
Instead, what it does is wait until there is like 1/1000000000th of a volt left and then tries to hit the brakes. Obviously the servo only makes it about half way to the brake position before the battery dies. My other car has the same one on and that glitches like hell.
I'm just glad i noticed this before taking my car out for a run. Because when that tiny amount of power is left and the failsafe engages, you cant move the servo at all!
Is there a half decent failsafe in the UK!?

Ive had your problem so i dont use a fail safe which is VERY risky on my half. when ever i gave my servo full throttle it would go all the way to full brake. For some reason it reset its self to by itself and when flying full throttle into a curb and busted up my front end.

I dont use fail safes I think lots are faulty.

Wow. You posted a thread link about a noob who ran his car without testing the electrics. If he did what i did and tested the failsafe works properly, no crashes!

I had this orange failsafe on my other car once, not sure what brand but it lasted about a year and a half. Dont know if they still make them but it was really good. Lately ive had some bad luck with tacky Chinese units though.

I use Spektrum modules and a Futaba 3PK. The Spektrum module has a built-in failsafe, but like you said, it malfunctions when it is supposed to hit the brakes. Another thing I noticed is the failsafe would fail to work at all because the receiver batt is so run down.

Now, when my car or truck starts to respond funny when I throttle, brake or turn, I stop it and take it in to charge the receiver batt. I take it as a sign that the receiver batt is so low that the failsafe is attemting to make its final input before all power loss.

So you tested the electronics, found that the failsafe was defective, took your car out for a run knowing the failsafe were defective and crashed? And you did this twice in the space of 1 month?
Oh wait no, you were careless and finally realized the failsafe wasnt working properly after 2 pretty damaging crashes. Wow, nice one genius
