Can I use this grease in the diffs?
It reads, "Disc brake wheel bearings, chassis, suspension, universal joints, CV joints".
It's a lot thicker and tackier than the stock stuff that was in there. My LHS said they use a synthetic grease so I picked this up. Thoughts?

i use to use axial grease for a boat trailer, it's not going to deteieriorate the diffs so you can use it, but i use diff fluid because you can see what WT your buying, but if all you do is bash, whitch you do that is fine

Use it. I also use Valvoline wheel bearing grease on my diff gears. It can EASILY handle anything a RC can throw at it, afterall, it's made to handle the heat and stress of a 3000lb+ car/truck.

You can use it, but I would use some good stuff made for the job, like diff oil. That way you can tune the performance more.

The first time I rebuilt my diffs I used axel grease. I found that I lost some serious performance so I switched to oil and have been much happier.

If you're a beginner you won't notice the difference between the weights of diff oil except maybe the real thick lockup oils. That grease will work fine for your diffs. If you start racing you can start experimenting with different weight diff oils to tune for traction. Trying to tune traction with diff oil for your basher is a waste of money imo.

What weight would be good for the rear and what weight would be good for the front?

I assure you he is wrong.
Heavy in rear light in front.
Light oil allows the diff to slip almost as if there was no grease in it,Heavy will lock it up..almost like a locker would, but allowing a little give for hard landings.
Heavy in front will give you a POSI effect in the front..making your truck PUSH more in the turns.
Light in the rear will allow 1 of the tires to spin more then the other ...usually the inside wheel "One wheel peel" therfore your losing traction.

does anyone on here know if you can use syn/gear lube in the diffs from a full size pick-up truck or do you have to buy special oil for these savage diffs?

Synthetic or natural gear lube could certainly be used. Why not? It will do the job just fine. The main advantage, to my way of thinking, with the dedicated diff oils for this hobby is that you know the viscosity and can thus "tune" the diffs for a desired set of charicteristics. For just bashing pretty much anything that provides lubrication should be fine.
