well im sure either would be awesome. I know if you got a Savage you would love it too. I have a savage x and the hellfire ss. I think the mt2 18ss+ would be an asesome truck and its a kit so fun to put together. y would u get the hellfire rtr insted of the ss?

DON'T GET A STADIUM TRUCK! They are limited to the street and you will be bored after a single week. Trust me. It was my first choice too and I regret it. I got a Savage X 4.6 and haven't driven my Jato since.

Of your choices, I'd go with the Hellfire. It's a much better "truck" and you could race it if you wanted to. It's a shame HPI never really pushed/campaigned the Hellfire because it's a platform with tons of potential and will really respond to mods. Put a hot engine in it and it's a rocket.[8D]

The only problem is the hellfire isnt very respected on the racing circuit. Its a nice truck, but everyone and there mother is driving the eight t now even though that truck is such a piece. Every week I see people wrenching on those eights to fix little stuff like cvd, hinge pins, knuckles, etc. I have yet to see any one wrenching on the hellfire to fix little stuff like that. It doesnt seem to handle quite as well as the eight t though. Still a very nice truck.

The Losi 8s are race bred and are on the ragged edge/set for kill, hence the constant wrenching. That's just the way it is in RC and 1:1 motorsports for that matter when everything is on the line. Constant wrenching goes with the territory. Anyways, it sounds like it's time to get yourself a Hellfire SS and put some heat on those 8s. With a little tweaking (the SS has the tweaks) and a hot .28, the Hellfire can be a very competitive ride. It's HPI's fault that nobody respects the Hellfire. They failed to properly promote it and they never formed a factory team that could showcase its abilities. What a waste, HPI could've really had a winner.[8D]

Evidently you have never owed or drive a MT! I have both the MT and Savage amoung others and it is a great off road truck! Yes this is the wrong thread for stadium trucks and Truggies. I would not suggest the HPI RTR Hell fire as they have WAY to many problems!

You sure do not see many on the racetrack and the ones I have seen do not hold up well. If you are going to get a Hell Fire get the SS kit. For more information go to the turggy thread or places like truggyracer.com. I do not own one and I am a big HPI fan but if I where to get a truggy it sure would not be a Hell fire.

When you say they are not holding up, what exactly do you mean? Just curious because my little cousin races a hopped up RTR Hellfire, very successfully I might add, and he hasn't had any problems other than routine maintenance issues. If there is something he should be looking out for I'll pass the info along to him.[8D]

I have all of these.
Savage ss
Hellfire ss
MT2 18ss

My favorite is the savage, then the hellfire, then MT2 ss

I put a 2 speed in my mt, the thing is fricken fast as heck. Good for urban areas, on the street and the lawn. But bashing is another story.
It is a little fragile. Diffs, I went threw 2 then put 2 washers behind the gears to tighten them up and no problems after that. and upgraded to all alum arms and knuckels. I got big roots and bumps in my yard and it will sent the mt2 flying. It is almost too fast. It is for sale
But the savage is more exciting with the 2 speed and monster truck appeal.
Just got a 3 speed on ebay, so that will be interesting. Nothing has ever broke on this truck besides the roll bar hoop, and a bent shock. My wife enven drove it strait into the wall, and nothing.
The hellfire is just as stout. single speed so it is not as fast, but it takes off quick, even changed to a 17 tooth bell. But is stable as heck, very hard to flip. It loves to cartwheel when you have a bad landing.
only thing I had to replace was the servo arm, the plastic one striped out so I up'ed to an alum one.

Have fun.

I have many gallons like 15 or so on my MT and only messed up my diffs twice. Once only after putting the OS 18 TZ in. Yes you have to put the good gears in it like the SS and shim them properly and I had to put a alloy case when I put the TZ in to keep it from flexing. Here is a picture of the bottom of my chassis on my MT before I put the TZ in.
Maybe they improved the Hell Fire but you sure see very few on the track! Like I said check out truggyracer.com.

Keep in mind the OS 18 TZ has as much HP as some big blocks. All so are you using the heavy-duty hardened ring and pinion gears? Are you shimming it properly? You all so need to run alloy diff cases to cut down on flex! I have all the SS drive train in mine. Mine is a HPI MT 1 ¾. The TZ is really way too much for any stadium truck! [X(]
