sts help?
OK since there is no one on the losi side, i need some help, and a unbiased answer?
i have my .28RR right now in my muggy and its a power house, but since I'm waiting for my bearing for it, its gonna either go back in the muggy or my mad force. but i was looking at the sts .28 with the sts pipe, and was wondering if it would be better fitted in a muggy, i know a lot of u savage guys have them, but I'm bidding on a pipe for my RR cause right now i only have stock.
so what I'm asking should i buy the sts .28 or keep the .28RR for the muggy?
but my big race is coming up before my bearings will be here, so i need a motor now!
what should i do?
Thanks in advance!

RE: sts help?
IF ur big race is coming up before ur bearings are coming, then buy the STS 28, and pipe, just remember the STS engines take a gallon before there full seated. So its all down to how long u can chew through a gallon of break in [:@]

RE: sts help?
Any high performance tight pinch race engine takes 1 to 1 ½ gallons to break in no matter what brand. If you are talking about the STS 28 (3) port it does not have the tight pinch like the 5 ports has.

I know all my 2 STS D21B and 1 STS D21T MKII was much tighter then my 3 port 28. Being I was told the 30 were tighter then my (3) 21 I figured the new 5 port 28 would be tighter then the 3 port 28. Do you have the new 5 port 28 TBJ?
Bottom line my STS 3 port 28 is no problem to break in and I have not had a problem with the pull starter!

RE: sts help?
As for what engine you want, the STS D28M and Axial .28RR Spec1 are good engines. For your muggy, if you want to get an STS engine, be sure to get the D28M 5port and not the older D28M 3port. That way, your muggy, which likes to have a high turning engine in it, will benefit from the D28M 5port. The 5port configuration of this version of the D28M allows this engine to breathe easier at higher RPMs.
Additionally, I say get the STS0702 in-line exhuast system. This exhuast is designed with the D28M and D28M engines in miund. Also, the header is the perfect diameter to fit the exhaust nozzle of the STS big block engines.
If you decide to use a differnt exhaust on you D28M other nthan the 0702, be sure you get a thicker rubber couplng . The reason is inustru standard exhaust nozzels are a larger outer diameter than that of the STS big blocks. The larger diameter rubber nozzle coupling gasket will elminate the play between the STS' smaller nozzle and the larger diameter of the header pip[e.

Hey Jimbo, check your email[&:].
Jim, I didn't realize what you said about the STS pipes...I haven't run an STS engine without an STS header! Good thing you mentioned that.

RE: sts help?
I know all about having to run different header seals with different pipes on STS engines. Been there did that. TBJ I even said something about it in the STS forum.

My STS 28 (3) port had less pinch then my K4.6 did! I just do not see the 5 port having less!

RE: sts help?
I got my STS 28 about six months ago and I did not think they made it with a tighter pinch like on the 30 Rev 2 but since I do not have but the one STS 28 cannot say.
