If you by a Savage X 4.6 and put $400 worth of mods into it you will end up with a far better truck!

You are obviously not familiar with how Towers pricing works. That price will come waaaaay down. Expect around 550.

Whether or not he is familiar with it, Tower comes pretty close and I doubt you'll see it for less than $600.

With tax/shipping you are looking at over $600.

No, tower does not always come close. They had teh TTR ST1 listed for like a grand for months on end. And pricing it at Horizon will not show a competitive price either. Wait til Amain has it listed, or ultimate. It'll be around 550. Or less.

Tower just lists a price until they actually get stock in.

A competitor for the LST2? You mean on the track? Ummm, no. Sure the XL will perform better in certain areas being longer, and wider. But i dont in any way think it'll compete on the track against an LST2, given the same skill of driver. I just hope with the new uprights/knuckles, that the truck offers a little more steering than the current savage.

The day a Savage lists for nearly $900, it had better be 1/5th scale.[8D]

I'm not too impressed with the changes really.......I was hoping for something a bit different. I kinda like the old savage a bit better.....but this is just my opinion!!

I've bought about $3000 worth of stuff from Tower in the past 18 months, so yeah I'm familiar with Tower's pricing, lol. I wondered if that was the "suggested" retail price, but I wasn't sure. I think it's pathetic that they didn't even bother to make new longer a-arms. Look for RPM and Aluminum parts manufacturers to come out with the "proper" a-arms for this truck. The shocks look really puny on the XL also. On a positive note, most parts will be backwards compatible with other Savage models. This will be good for guys who have a ton of spare parts lying around from older Savages.

I would rather get a Baja ss!!! Savage 5.9 is not that much different to the x 4.6.

Unlikly since the dogbones remain the same length as the standard savage ones so unless they make longer dogbones as well it would be pointless. would need to design new arms to use the old savagex carriers.

i love it when people slam this new truck. no one has driven the xl to see how it "performs". anyone who says is like a savage 4.6 needs to see a shrink. longer, wider, big engine etc. please spare me. ill be the 1st one to buy the xl and im sure ill love it. i read all this crap about a totally new truck. so you want hpi to do away with tvp's? c mon, thats what makes a savage a savage. if they came out with a flat plate chassis, im sure there would be more *****in. i know this truck is gonna perfom like a champ. i love the guys that say there gonna change & upgrade there 4.6. guess what, it still wont be a xl. i love my savage k 4.6. its not a rtr 4.6, but a k 4.6. the thing rocks. i love my losi lst2. i love my baja ss, i love all the vehicles i own, and im sure im gonna love the xl. dont trash what you havnt driven!

Default RE: $865.99 for a SAVAGE XL 5.9!... NO THANKS!

please explain how i already have it. my savage x k4.6 is not a savage xl. lets list what the xl comes with, as opposed to that the 4.6 comes with. 1) k 5.9 engine vs f 4.6 engine. aluminum clutch shoes vs composit clutch shoes. steel spur gear vs plastic spur gear. 3 speed trans. with high speed 3rd gear vs. 2 speed trans. high tourque meat gear steering servo vs standard steering servo. hump pack and charger vs AA battery reciever. now, lets see what the cost is in comparison. savage xl is gonna be like $570. savage x 4.6 is $425. upgrades to the 4.6 that are done right away, steering servo, $35 minimal. steel spur gear and racing clutch bell, $30. hump pack, $25. 3 speed trans. kit, $45.aluminum clutch shoes, $20. thats $565 to upgrade the BASICS of a savage 4.6. add the cost of a bigger engine, extended tvp's and i rest my case. for $570, the xl is a bargin. again, i have a savage x with a k 4.6, 3 speed tranny with the high speed 3rd gear set, among other mods. for the money i have it the 4.6, its more than the xl.
p.s. ive owned a 67 chevy camaro, id take that anyday over most modern cars. you stick with what you own, ill stick with what own and what im gonna purchase. i promise ill be one of the 1st to own a savage xl. cant wait
