CA Model 24% Extra300L + OS120SurpassIII
Hello there!
I have an OS120SurpassIII gathering dust in its box.
CA Model makes a 24% Extra 300L (73" WS) kit that is priced very well here in Chile.
I don't want to do 3D with it, just nice smooth sport-scale aerobatics, like those in the IMAC sportsman and intermediate sequences. I won't use it for competition purposes.
Do you think vertical performance would be enough for that, or should I forget a model this size for the OS?
Anyone flying the 24% CA Extra here???
Thanks for your input.
Saludos,
Paul

It will be enough power if you build it light. At 9lbs. 8oz., mine has plenty for 3D and vertical snaps with a YS120 (30% fuel, 16x8 apc).
I did a short thread on my building experience some time ago.

good luck.

Uh Oh, Wayne's busted. Flying a YS no less!!!! Can't wait till I see everyone at N Dallas to confirm this ground shaking news.
An IMAC plane also. teehee.
Have you flown any IMAC Wayne?? My 34% Extra should be done this weekend. Will give it a little go and see what happens.

A friend of mine flies intermediate with this same plane but with a MVVS 160 gasser. Not enough power for good verticals. Now that MVVS is much heavier than your glow 4-stroke.
As above, if the final weight is kept below 10 lbs, preferably around 9, you should be OK.
