Default Diesel

In the announcement of the latest version of the Rabbit, diesel fuel is listed as a fuel option. What is JetCentral's position regarding the use of diesel in the older engines as far as running and warranty are concerned. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Diesel

As far as I know, and from a spanish forum you can use diesel in:

Rabbit: all
Cheetah: all
Mammoth: all
Rhino: Only Kerostart

Falcon, Eagle and bee is not recommended.

Use only 100% synthetic oil with "JASO FC" specs like Motul 710 or Red Line Racing. 50:1 or 2% only, no more, no less.

I am running Diesel in my Cheetah and no problems so far.

Hope this help.

Sounds great, But I'd sure like to hear from Eric or the factory before I change my Rabbit's diet. Sounds like my Bee will have to stay with kero, though. Must be the tiny injector needles.

rcguy59:

Yes, Diesel (low sulphur) is approved for use in the turbines as stated by furycham. I have been using Diesel since July in My Rabbit 100 prototype with no issues.

We highly recommend the use of synthetic with the rating stated by furycham. Amsoil Dominator is the brand and specific product I am using. Being red in color is a benefit as it turns the fuel red. . .never a mystery as to "if" you put oil in the fuel. Mix ratio is 2.5% which is 1/2 quart. Any other synthetic with "JASO FC" specs is approved as well. Insure you have the correct mix ratio of 2.5%. Our Turbo Prop system requires the use of synthetic to maintain the Lifetime Warranty. The jf50Bee II KS (kero start) turbine may use Diesel as well, but performs better with Jet A or packaged (clean) kerosene.

I will be posting officially our findings and recommendations on RCU shortly. BTW, we have been testing Diesel in Europe for over a year and here in the US since July. Only discernable difference is a plume of smoke immediately after shut down prior to auto cool engaging. . .

Kind regards to all. . .

Eric and the Jet Central team

Thanks, Eric. Low sulphur is all that's available around here, anyway. I'll mix a batch for my Rabbit and give it a try. Mike

Hey Eric. Didn't see Mobil DTE light mentioned. Is that oil OK to use with Deisel in my Cheetah and Rabbit?

That's the stuff. I'm going to use Stihl HP Ultra. It meets the same spec. and is also what I run in my gassers. About the same price as the Amsoil.

jetsett: Yes, Amsoil Dominator is the correct or recommended product. Mix 2.5% or 1/2 quart per 5 gallons.

Sailing1: Mobil DTE lite is approved, but you must use 5% or 1 quart to 5 gallons for proper lubrication

rcguy59: Will work fine, but Dominator turns the fuel a nice red color. . .a good check to see if you put oil in your fuel ! ! !

Eric

So I just want to be clear....I Cannot run Diesel in my Propane Start Rhino's that just came back? They eat the most except for the Mammouth. If that is the case, what makes the diesel unsuitable?

If DTE Lite is used in Deisel a mix of 5% is required? Is 5% also required if using Jet A or kerosene?

Hello 757Driver
Some propane Rhinos can work with diesel, please give Eric serial numbers to confirm
Diesel has more calorific power (I'm not sure if that was the right translation) than Kero, in other words, it burns hotter, and some combustion chamber parts can be afected

The Bee II is also aproved for Diesel

Sorry for the bad English

John
Regardless the fuel you are using the recommended ratios are:

DTE lite 5%
Turbine Oil 2.5% to 5%
2 Strokes oil 2% to 2.5%

Juan
