Default JC P-100 RX flameout after a few runs

Hello,

I have a P100-RX which will run pretty well for 1 to 3 flights, then it starts to fail to startup or won't ramp up cleanly.

Two different symptoms, probably related:
  1. It will start, Stabilize and learn low. When you try to increase the throttle it will hesitate and ultimately die with a "LowRPM" off code.
  2. It will start and begin to ramp up but it will flame out while at "Stabil". Off code is "LowRPM"

Things we have tried w/mixed results:
  1. Checked fuel system, looks ok.
  2. Restart with GSU in manual and manually run up the throttle slowly until we reach full. (appears to work but I'm not 100% confident, symptoms have reemerged)
  3. Restart and relearn RC. (appeared to have worked once when it was dying, but then it didn't work when we tried it on an other day when it was dying.
  4. Set IdleThrResponse to : SLOW & set FullThrResponse to : Normal. (Also appeared to have worked and ran great for 4-5 runs. On the next trip to the field the symptoms reemerged. It's been really really hot and humid, I was advised this helps. It helped kind of, but not really.

I'm now losing confidence in the setup which we all hate, I'm on the verge of grounding the plane at this point, any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

Hi Dave,

It's a boomerang, so there isn't a pipe.

I'd guess its pump related (Well not the pump but the motor driving it). How many hours on turbine?

I'm on a business trip so I can't pull the exact current total from stats, but its probably in the neighborhood of ~20hrs. How can I best troubleshoot a pump drive motor issue?

Try another pump.
if none available disconnect the turbine, put the tube in a ground tank and manually run the pump in test functions, run in stages, 1-2-3v hold at full/max voltage for 1 minute, run down in stages to 0.5v, then back up. Do that twice and try to run the turbine. It might clear the brushes.

Hi Dave,

I tried what you suggested, and so far the turbine is running well, fingers crossed, thank you for the help! Great support.
