First Flight!!!

Imaidened the Kadet today, It was a nice day, low winds, 55*, sunny. Ifired up the OS, tuned it best I could, Ineed to learn how adjust the carb on the 4 stroke. Itaxied it out and drove it around the strip, with tall grass. It handled great. Ithought the tail gear sould be a problem, but it worked fine. After a few run ups I decided to give it a go, and away it flew, 3/4 throttle and a little up and it left the ground and flew nice and straight. A little trim for half throttle and some left aileron, and it flew nice and straight hands off. Flew it around for about 5 minutes and made a pass and went to throttle up and the engine died. Great, first flight and my first dead stick with it. Well, the plane came back around and I almost made it to the strip until I ran out of hieght, and it settled in on all 3 wheels nice and soft.

Ifiddled with the carb some more after checking the tank, it had a 1/4 tank left, so it didnt run out of fuel. Ifilled it, and fired it up again and took off once more. Still have some engine tuning to do, but man what a great flying plane. The second flight was just as sweet, but the engine just didn't feel right. Ibrought it in to land, but the plane is a bit bigger than I am used to, so it was a bit further away than I thought, so it came down on the edge of the runway and clipped the soybean field, and nosed in, but typical of most of my landings, it just came to a stop. THe nose got a lttle dirty, but thats all.

Man what a great plane!

Good job! :-}

We flew our club's Kadet LT-40 with a Saito .52 and it is a lot of fun! We just upgraded to an AMR Trainer 20, and the good ol' Kadet is now in a students hands as his first plane! Throw some lights on it for some more fun at night!

I just might do that since we fly in the evening. I also have a Deweyville with a DLE20 that would look better in the dark cause it is one ugly plane.

If it's that ugly, lol, recover with some clear in key locations and light it up from the inside! Here is what the AMR Trainer 20 looks like lit up. Oh and double check the colors of LEDs on the wing tips...in my defence they look the same with no power going to them.
