Hey Brotherrrrrs,
Sig Kadet LT 40 w/ 4 cycle OS 70 for power,Hitec Aurora 9,Optima 7 rcvr, ARF version with bolt on wings. I have had 3 of these and you can't beat em.
This airplane will do anything you tell it too, providing you can make the inputs. Mine has learned the art of Knife Edge flight and more.
Keep em flyin !!!

Sign me up. I have had them all. My MKII {1983] First love flew away and I still miss her. Would like to put floats on a Senor if I could get some advise.

Add me to the list, please. I built my first MKll in the early 80s. Flew it for several years until it was destroyed in a mid-air with another Kadet.

I decided to get back into airplanes after a long absence and having gravitated toward Helis. I bought a Kadet Sr ARF two years ago and fly it often. It has a Saito 62 for power and flys great. I got a little too slow down low on a windy day a few weeks ago and ended up snapping the fuse in half. A couple of hours in the garage an I had it repaired, covered and ready to fly. Love my Kadet!

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
Hey can I get in on this? I have a old 18 year old Senior that is the easiest to fly plane I've ever thumbed. It's stock 3 channel with a Magnum GP40. Weighs exactly 6lbs. I get a kick on a nice warm day climbing up really high and killing the motor and thermaling it. Best I've made was 30 minutes dead stick :-) One of these days I'm gonna rebuild her with flaps, ailerons and a 4 stroke like my Flyin' King she's next to. Should be a hoot being the Kadet is 3lbs lighter than the FK.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
Please add me to the Brotherhood. If possible I'll take #58 - It's my hockey jersey number!
A Kadet Mark II was my first plane & build back in 1980. It flew perfectly with an OS .25 FSR - back before there were buddy boxes & you had to pass the box to the trainer when you got in trouble. My Dad dropped a .40 in the front while I was away for my freshman year of college and the plane was never the same. Too hot, too nose heavy, pilot waaaaaay too inexperienced, and we all know how the story ends.... Lots of air under the wings since then.
I just picked up an LT-25 kit for either an OS .30 Surpass or Saito .FA-40 that are in need of a plane. Probably remove the diehedral and redo the wing with semi or fully symmetrical ribs so it's more aerobatic, kinda like a clipped wing Cub.

Count me in, the first kit I built back in '07 was a Kadet. Couple of pics, one on the building board, the second from my first fly-in.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
Count me in Gary. My 1st plane was a MK2 that I taught myself how to fly on. My first engine on her was a K&B 40. Cooked the crap out of it learning how to set it. haha But that's what you do when you are 150 mi from the nearest club. There was so much glue and fuel soaked wood, I bet it weighed 7-8 lbs when I retired it. I even messed around and put a low wing aerobatic airfoil wing on her. I just rubber banded it to the top. It flew great!!! I have an LT 40 in my stable right now. I'm just getting back into the hobby after a 6 year rest.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
I bought a LT-40 kit to build for my grandson on eBay, then a Kadet Sr came up for sale, which is what I really wanted so I got that too. I went to a party and a guy was selling a LT-40 ARF for $100 on craigslist almost next door so I stopped to see it on the way to the party, it was partially assembled,[] the good part was it had a new OS.40FP and a new cheap 5 channel Futaba radio he hadn't mentioned in the ad, the bad part was the covering has epoxy finger prints all over it, I don't think he miss a square inch.[:'(]
I finally got my work-bench cleaned off so I can finish the LT-40 ARF. I took the trike gear off, strengthen the floor for the main gear of a tail-dragger, added some tri-stock to the nose, and put some 1/2" ply in for the wing hold-downs. I got most the epoxy off the covering by heating the covering, that seem to make the epoxy come off but not all of it, now I'm deciding if I should just strip all the covering off and recover it.

91% Isopropyl alcohol or acetone will remove the finger prints. I wish I had your luck around here I have a hard time finding any thing that doesn't cost an arm or leg.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
Phew! This is hard work. [&:] But a labor of love. Just checked my tracking number and my LT40 has made it to Texas, so Ill be getting it tomorrow. I ordered a Saito 56 and some other stuff this morning and today my vacation request was approved for next week. I'm going to try and build this plane in 12 days and that will be a challenge for me since I am a slow builder especially while doing a build thread.

Hi Gary,
Count me in too. I believe I have built 3 of the original SIG Kadets and 7 of the Kadet LT - 40 Kits. Modified a few. Here's one that I scratch built with a O.S. .70 Surpass II. Super stable. fantastic Model design, fantastic trainer.
Ken AMA 1528
Here's my Senior Kadet modified landing gear and wheel pants. Take-offs and Landings are just beautiful.
The LT-25 is another fantastic design, mine had a Saito .30 four stroke for about a year of flying, then changed to Enya .46 four stroke, and still going.
I built my SIG LT 25 from a Kit supplied by Radio Control Modeler Magazine for Product Review, it never got published, RCM stopped publication with the June, 2005 issue, that last issue had my Zero .40 Product Review.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
When I got into RCing in the early 80's, while living in FLA, the Sig Cadets were very popular. A divorce ended RC for me. I got back into the hobby in late 2010 and my first aircraft was an old Sig Kadet with an OS .40 LA with a broken back plate needle valve. I ordered a new remote needle valve carb and backplate. As soon as winter ends, I'll put her back in the air. I'd like to become a member, so please let me know my number, Oldfartpilot.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.
Here is my entry into the Kadet brotherhood.
Its the fourth Kadet MK II that I have built. The first I built was in 1985 from the original kit. I have scratch built 3 others since then from the original plans. Each time trying new ideas, like flaps, longer wings, etc. This one I finished last year after taking several years off from the hobby. The cowl is scratch built and the fuse is glassed. I reduced the dihedral to 2 degrees and it seems to really like that.. It flies really well. I added lights to this. There is a strobe in the tail, wing tip lights and landing lights. Just something to play around with. Its a design that has proven the test of time. Since I dont fly that often, I never really progress far past the trainer stage!
