Still have 3 kits that I KNOW SIG produced, there's ZERO on them on the web: Cessna 170, Yak 9(?P?), Minnow 1/4 Midget

The SIG "discontinued" listing has parts for these 3, and I've found a ref in RC Groups to the Cessna 170 being SIG's buy-out of the Berkeley kit. Nothing else. The other issue I've got in the "kits" are the many numbers that are skipped - - there's no information anywhere that I've looked on whether a plane was associated with them or what it might have been. I've even snail-mailed and e-mailed SIG with no results.

I'm just now getting to the 18 "unreconciled" ARF's that I've got. All the missing (kits & ARFs) are on that front page now.

In the "gee, I wish they'd re-start this one" department, my vote goes for the Yak-18. Outstanding kit, outstanding airplane.

Skylark-flyer, I built a Zlin Akrobat. It was ugly but flew great! I also built one of their Mustangs. It had clamshell tan colored plastic fuselage halves that were attached to the profile fuse. The wings were foam cores(?) I saw pic of Zlin on internet but couldn't find pics for the Mustang. Another kit was offered in this mode of construction(?). Maybe someone with a better memory can set me straight!

That Mustang was one in Sigs' Kwik Built series. There's one one Ebay presently. I think they also made a Chipmunk and one other model which escapes my memory at the moment. How did that Mustang fly? I've got one partially built so I'm curious.

Ditto on the reissue for the Yak -18. I found one years ago and snagged it up quickly. It looks like a fun build.

I dont have pictures of the Four Star yet as it is still in the box, however, here is a Sig Wonder that I started a few months ago. It is being converted to electric. The nose has been extended slightly and there will be two aileron servos. I hope to get this completed before the weather gets warm.

One of the most enjoyable planes I ever built was the Sig Somthin Extra. it had an OS46 on it with flap mixing etc. What a great airplane. Unfortunately I no longer have it.

Yesterday on my Facebook I noticed Sig testing a prototype for an ARF/Electric version. Yes...it is under development. I would love to have this airplane again however I no longer fly nitro and I avoid ARF whenever possible. After seeing pictures of that prototype Im seriously considering doing the same thing Im doing with the Sig Wonder and building the kit and converting it to electric along the way. I'll have to search around the Internet for others who may have done it but i was just wondering if anyone here has done it.

All y'all - Mike Gretz came through for me, like ya wouldn't believe! He passed on the ENTIRE official listing (including Herr kits) of SIG kits through the ages, and I'll be posting it within the next hour or so on the website. Most of the kits are now discontinued (no surprise there). I thought I was doing pretty good with sleuthing down the listing - I had a fair amount but nowhere close to all of it.

Great list! I wouldn't mind finding the Bonanza kit, it was a great looking airplane!

There was one on ebay yesterday. Unbuilt and still in the original box. Not able to find it when I looked for it just now, not sure if it was sold or if the auction just ended.

No doubt about it - the Bonanza is a fabulous airplane. But I've found one (design) that I like even better, RC57 Morrisey Bravo is OUTSTANDING. Got a feeling it's a larger, heavier plane - would definitely be like flying a Cadillac.

It is very late at night and I'm still trying to wind down from another late shift by browsing that online auction site. For those of you interested there are no less than 4 SIG Ryan kits listed as of tonight. I see them come and go more frequently than some of the other old kits, but they always seem to fetch top dollar. There is also a Komander listed right now that I have my sights on, and an old Quik-Build P-51. If I were to reverse engineer a Komander, possibly with a built up wing,would any one be interested in a set of plans? I feel I should clear the idea with the powers that be at SIG first, but just throwing the idea out there.

Id love a set but good luck with Sig...

Have an old Komander in the shop waiting for a makeover. Got it 2nd hand and while going though it was testing the center wing joint and it snapped in half! According to the plans I bought there is no spar in the wing or nothing that connects the two halfs across the joint, always thought that was weird. Builder didn't glass the center either. i will.

No wing joiner, Bill? I guess a good layer of glass would be enough in theory, but how many of us can wet up a theoretically good layer of glass on the first try? I very rarely can. I have a half built Zlin 526 with the foam core wings. It has a huge slot cut out of the center of the core that looks like it fits a 2X4. Maybe Mr McCullough knew something I don't(actually a totally useless statement now that I think about it) but I like my wings with full span double spars and huge plywood joiners. I do have the tools and technology to cut foam cores, but I find built up wings easier and a lot quicker to build.

I can remember building several sport scale airplanes in that time frame with foam wings butt joined together without any joiner. I think that was an accepted practice back then. One that comes to mind was from plans out of a magazine for a 3 channel fun fly German or British looking WWI biplane in a .15 to .25 size. The design was published around 74 or 75. The foam wing halves could be ordered mail order which I did. It was my first airplane I attempted to build with this new CA glue everyone was talking about. Unfortunately I got it in my head to try the CA on the foam cowings. As luck would have it I was able to switch from the German design to the British design which had an angle cut at the wingtip to hide the melted foam. The airplane was painted with Krylon spray paint and flew quite well. I loss interest in foam wings after that and I never built another airplane with foam wings, with the exception of a Jack Stafford P-51 kit with foam wing core. The P-51 kit must not have been a very popular, I haven't seen one since.

My LHS said the Kadet SR has been discontinued but I should buy the LT40 arf in stock. SIGmfg does not show it discontinued. Something I'm missing or getting a BS line to sell the LT40? I think BS line

LT40 is not anything like a Kadet Sr. Your LHS is full of crap. The new Kadet Sr ARF is called Kadet Sr Sport & it now has ailerons.

My email was "Do you have a Kadet SR in stock. The reply was "We do not have a SIG Kadet SR in stock right now. We do have a Kadet LT40 ARF in stock if you are interested in that one. The SR has been discontinued.".

If you want a kit, the Kadet Sr is still available & is almost $40 cheaper than the LT40. If you want an ARF there is the Kadet Sr Sport.

Both are available, your LHS is lying to you.

I wonder if maybe your LHS meant that the original Senior ARF was discontinued since now the sport version is available.

Why not just order directly from Sig?

Why would you want the 3 channel original anyway? The Sport model is just basically a Kadet Sr W/ailerons.

Even suggesting the LT40 as a substitute for a Kadet Sr tells me that either the LHS is clueless or they are just trying to sell something that they have in stock.
