Default Any suggestions for securing landing gear for a Scat Cat?

Hello-

I just finished a scat cat. I had the box laying around and decided to build it. I took it on its maiden voyage last week and all went well. About the third flight in, my landing was a bit hard and I knock the left landing gear loose. As you know, the LG is mounted to the foam wing via hardwood.

So, does anyone have a decent idea as to how I should secure the LG to the wing? I could just screw in the same screws I used before but the LG seems a bit loose and unstable. This is my first foam wing, low-wing project. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.................

You can keep fixing it when you pop the gear out of the wing, or put a glass or aluminum halco type gear on the fuse just in front of the wing and have no more problems with it. Make sure you beef up the structure inside a bit if you put it on the fuse, but that way it won't keep coming out and you won't have a problem with it. It lands and takes off nice with it up there.

Just a suggestion if you go with Flyboy's mounting is to install blind nuts 3 or 4 and to use nylon 6/32 or larger screws to mount the helical gear, in the event of any future hard landings the nylon screws will shear and help prevent belly tear-out. A few spares will be handy to keep with you aswell'

On foam cores with no or minimal spars, while building I use a peice of thin ac ply cut to a spar shape and epoxy glue the LG hardwood blocks to it at the fore sides, it adds strength and very slight weight. (I then sunggly fit assembly into wing)
Also on any foam repair where LG blocks have torn loose I will cut a peice of scrap foam larger than the LG block and tightly fit & glue back into wing, then reinstall the block or part that came loose as it was when built originally.
