Default GP J3 Piper Cub Question

I have been building this plane for many hours now. I have finished the fuse and the wing. I am now building the barn door ailerons. I have glued the ribs in place on both assemblies. The instructions now indicate that I need to sand the ribs at an angle so that they taper to a point at the TE of the assembly. Currently the aileron is in a rectangular box shape. They show a large T shaped sanding tool in the photo's. My question; Is there a better way to shape this assembly? I'm not looking for an easier way, just a better way. It looks like I might end up with a wavy surface instead of a true flat surface along the length of the aileron. Any suggestions?

No, just follow their instructions. If you don't already have sanding bars in different lengths, go buy them. I have the short, medium, and long bars from GP with different grit papers on them so I don't have to peel off paper when I want a different grit. The ribs are thin and soft, so your sanding should go quickly. Squat down so the surface you are sanding is at eye level so you can maintain the right angle on your sanding bar, and using a longer sanding bar (at least the 11"), and moving to different areas so all ribs are the same, you should have good results. Just go slowly, and don't hog off too much material at once.
