Default 1/5 Piper Cub J-3

Greetings to those all knowing and wise builders (maybe that will elicit an answer ) - I have spent 5 months building a Sig Cub and now I have hit a wall. At one point in the instructions it mentions the use of rubberbands on the landing gear to absorbe shock. Pray tell how does one install, and how many, of these rubberbands - nowhere in the book does it mention how this is done. I know I am gonna love this plane Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

You are supposed to solder a bent wire onto the upper landing gear wire in the center. This wire that you solder on is to bent upward front and back. You loop the rubber bands around one end of the wire, pass the band under the lower landing gear wire, ant then around the other end of the short wire that you soldered on to the main wire. This forms a shock absorbing gear or bungee. you can use an o-ring of the appropriate size as well. As to the how many question, it depends on how well you can land the plane. If you are habitually rough on your landings, you will probably need at least 5 bands.
