Default Hangar 9 Alpha 40 foolproofing needed?

I posted this in the ARF/RTF section, but thought I may get additional response here as well...

I just bought a Hangar 9 Alpha 40 RTF. It came with the engine (.46 TPS) pre-installed.
Does anyone know whether the firewall area has been fuelproofed?
Should I remove the engine and beef up the firewall w/ triangle stock and fuelproof w/ epoxy?
Thanks,
Bob

Just for future reference, you're only allowed to post a question in one forum at a time.

Any RTF plane is already fuel-proofed. Of course, you can always add more if you so desire

MinnFlyer,
Thank you for you reply.
I'm still trying to figure out which forum is the correct/best to post in....
I will follow your directive in the future.

I think this question would fit either the 'ARF/RTF' or the 'Questions and Answers' forum since the Alpha is available as ARF and RTF, and you are asking a question.

Could go in beginners too.

Don't worry Bob, just explore the forums, ask a few questions, chew the fat with the guys and enjoy yourself.

And welcome to RCU, you'll love it here!

Bob,

I see you are just down the road from me. Where do you fly at?

I use thick CA and 30 min epoxy to fuel proof my planes.

I learned with an Alpha 40. I didn't need any extra fuel-proofing on mine, but I would recommend a little reinforcing on the firewall. It takes a bit of a beating, and needed a couple repairs.

I second the recommendation to reinforce the firewall with some tri-stock. Mine popped loose early in my training from an ugly landing that I think it should have been able to handle. Epoxy some tri-stock behind the firewall if you can get to it, or in front if it will fit. And while you have the epoxy mixed, I would fuel proof the engine bay as well.

Good luck
