Werks Collari
Anyone having problems getting parts for these motors? Local hobby shops around here say that the parts a hard to get, I called Werks today and the rep said that they just released the new 32mtr motors and new cooling heads and that they have the parts, anyone have the same situation?

RE: Werks Collari
Sounds like your LHS doesn't know about them or carry them.
Sheldons carries parts: http://www.sheldonshobbies.com/listing/wrx01.html
So does RC planet: http://www.rcplanet.com/collari_32_e...67517_prd1.htm
When my Mach dies, the Collari 32 is next on my list!

Hey 2D, what will i need to upgrade to run this engine? Mayhem Maniac was saying something about upgrading to the LST2 conversion kit is a"must" for any engine over a .26.. I don't really believe that but what do you think? I know i'll probably have to get the Losi alloy clutch shoes..

No, the mach backplate won't fit. The Collari 30 & 32 can come with a rotostart plate, but you need to switch the wires on your rotostarter so it spins the other way. The Losi starter is WORLDS better than the hpi/hotbodies one. You may need the HPI-style end (Has 2 pins on the ball head instead of being a hex tip).

Ohh god that damn hpi style roto start, ever get it to go off by accident and wrap up in you're shirt while carrying to many things. (smart thing to do is remove the shaft, LOL) Really sucks when that happens and it grabs your skin at the same time, I hate that thing. Losi's spinner is 100000 times better. Not saying the collari is bad at all, just the starter.

I've had the Savage roto button get stuck for no reason.
Like I assumed above, the Collari will require the dogbone tip. The shaft/tip can be bought from your LHS or on Ebay for a few bucks.

Go To LST Central and see How many LST1s there Are with 28s and 32s sized Engines Without any Drive Train Problems...

I have a backplate that will screw right on to it.
The problem I have is the HEX gear inside is bigger than the hex shaft from the motor.
How did you get around this for the COLLARI?
DO you have a Part number on what you used.
I can't see spending $80 for it right now.

RE: Werks Collari
Ok 1st off, The Collari .30 and .32 are excellent engines for tourque and power and absolutely rip shreds in a LST.
But before you go spend your hard earned cash, be warned, that the new 8mm starter shaft and 1 way are a real pain in the arse.
This is a really bad design as the bearing is on the inside of the back plate and it just sits on the shaft once pushed through from the out side. The 1 way is not housed (meaning there is a 1.5mm gap between the bearing and the back plate) and runs free inside your engine. It rubs against your conrod and shaves a few millimeters off every run. Also, because the bearing is not housed, it vibrates constantly on the shaft, in turn it wears the 8mm shaft down to about 7.6mm and your 1way will no longer grab it to start your engine.
Sirio have done exactly the same thing with the new .27 backplate and the same on their .30
I got 3 collari .30's, 1 for me, 2 for friends, and 1 .32 for friend and another friend got his own Sirio .30. They ALL have the same problem.
So if you want to replace starter shafts every week or 2, go buy one!
Or better yet, ask Eric from Werks about how many shafts were sent back and replaced. I'm sure he will tell you 9 just from me and a hell of a lot more from other. All these engines are now sitting in boxes gathering dust.
Dont get me wrong.. these engines rip shreds. But if you want a .30, go for the OS30 with the savage setup. Bolt rotor start straight on!

RE: Werks Collari
Regarding roto-start for Collari .30 if I am understanding this right, I can use the roto-start back plate for a Savage. I got a .30 off a friend, and it has a broken pull string and I would like to put it in my LST2 to see what it does.

RE: Werks Collari
So, I almost went to Sheldons today, to buy this .32 Werks Collari they have on sale. Glad I read this first, sounds like a broken design. Would it still be worthwhile (and possible) to convert/change/modify the starter parts, with something that will actually work for more than a couple of runs? I thought $200 including tax was a good price for this engine, but not if it's gonna be a constant pain.

dont get me wrong its a very strong running motor for the lst ....most of the problems lie in the starters..wheter it be pull start or roto...both starter systems blow big time

Were you using the first version of the roto-start with the internal oneway or the v2 with the external oneway and bearing??
Were you using the first version of the roto-start with the internal oneway or the v2 with the external oneway and bearing??
my question is....has the newly revised header come out???
and really...I lost all respect for the motor, once the needles started backing themselves out from being so loose....
if it was'nt for that... and the header..I'd be all for this motor....
Why???the exhaust port??? why??/

RE: Werks Collari
I don't knock them for trying something different and it works well when I can can keep a seal on it. I sent them a priority mail package two weeks ago with three roto-start backplates and have not heard back........ When I get those back and the get a bigger flange on the header these will be some awsome engines. I have a .32 brandnew in the box and if it runs like my .30 does with the V2 roto start components, .32 carb and header/pipe I will be very happy. I've never had a problem with the carb needles.
