Hey Gary,
Looking forward to seeing it at Monster Planes. Which BTW is 20 days away.
Hey Gary,

Good news is Zombie is totally ready in every respect.
Might bring a P-51 as well, but we have to leave room to bring that huge fuselage for the 144" P-47 back. Scott will be glad to get it out of his garage I'm sure.
I might get some work done on your radial, but I'm pretty sure it won't be done it time.

Already started chipping the paint off the aluminum. With the hardener added to the paint, and the lack of primer, it chips nicely.

Ya got to love it when a plan comes together!
Looks real good Gary, the aluminum skin really makes it look awesome when you chip it...

While I am detailing #1, Brian is working on the lighting in the wings on #2. Here are a couple pictures.
There will be (14) LEDs in the wings alone.
2 wing tips
3 bottom formation
3 top formation
6 gun lights

can't wait to see how you do the guns. Sounds like it will be real cool. Now to come up with something to sound like guns shooting with some smoke accent!

We have ordered the components for sound and the boards for the lighting, and my buddy is working on the smoke generator. A totally new concept that he is experimenting with. Very cool, but I don't want to say more just yet.
Our goal is to make it inexpensive and simple enough to be within reach of the majority of discerning war bird modelers.
We plan to use it in the #2 airframe.

Funny you said that. What do you think we are working on with another friend, a gun package for our models that will include sound, flash, and smoke.

I will say that what we are working on is a stand alone system, separate from the engine-generated type smoke. This could even be used in an electric plane. Although, with a fighter or bomber that was equipped with engine smoke, like Scott Prossen's new 144" P-47, a very cool simulated dog fight could be depicted.
Looking forward to that maiden, and the coverage. I'm sure your first landing will be better than mine. I was way too worried about torquing her over in an aborted landing, with all that power and aggressive prop. Actually, you can put power on fairly fast and the rudder handles it just fine. Even with full flaps and gear down, she pulls right back up and away.

On the subject of gun flash, I'd like some suggestions on color. What do you guys think would be more effective? White, orange, red, yellow or a combination of colors? Your opinions are welcome.

Well, maybe Red would show up well, I know a red Vette catches the cops eyes first on the freeway. Maybe it's the Blonde driving it. If the bulbs were bright strobe lamps I am sure it would be visible.
I hope to Maiden Wed. I need a JR Matchbox. The ailerons are y'ed to one channel and I am out of channels. I need to get the Differential setup. I am sure it would fly fine the way it is but I have too much down on one aileron. The Nuke in me says to leave nothing to chance.

Equalizer II on the ailerons and Equalizer 3D on the flaps.

Here is the video of the tail gear. Keep in mind that we only have a 4.8V battery powering it for these tests. A 7.4V LiPo will be running it in the plane, and run it much faster.

Here is the Main gear. I has plenty of power, even with the 4.8V battery. On-board the plane all three gear will be powered with a separate 7.4V LiPo, plugged directly into the control box. One wire will run from the sequencer to the control box and the red wire in it will be cut, so all the box gets is the signal.
You will notice that Mitch did the welding mod to the bracket for us, along with his other work.

Gary, those gears perform realistically even at 4.8 volts. It looks like you will have to use a pull-pull cable setup for the tail wheel. How are you going to keep the wheel centered when the tension is off the cable during the retract process? Dan.
