Hi all. I am having a lot of problem with the folding wing hydraulic system. I tried to upload the picture but unable to
The connection diagram shows that the accumulator is connected to the air pressure source. I put in a small air tank and pumped it up to about 100 psi then tried to run the pump. The pump ran for a few second and then stopped then the hydraulic fluid get pushed into the air tank. A lot of fluid went in there. . Also, I ran the pump with a 7.4V battery but it seems like it can't handle the pump. The sticker on the pump said not to use less than 6v. So what is the upper limit on the voltage range? I have a lot of questions.
The first time I ran it, the pump ran and the arms started to move but they didn't go down all the way and then the pump stopped. The smoke started to come out of the pump. I then quickly pull the battery. After a few mins, I tried again and the pump didn't move. I tried with a 9.9V and it appears to be trying to to start. It seems like the pressure was too high for the pump to work. I moved the position hydraulic switch to the other position (up) and tried again. It seems to run for a second or so then stopped. Now I can't get the pump to move.

I tried again, I removed the tubing to the hydraulic cylinder from the switch valve to let the pump work without backend pressure. The pump ran fine. I then reconnect the line and the pump didn't even start. That test proved that the pump still working. I noticed that it works better and more frequent with the 9.9v. On luck, I managed to get the system working by moving the arms all the way up position (folded position). Now I can't get the system to move the arm down. I wondered if I need to go to 11.1v battery. Anyone has experience with the new hydraulic pump system being supply with the new kit?
I also experimented with the pressure on the accumulator but it didn't seem to help.
I really appreciate any input.

Thank you Mr.Stang:

Some times when I'm extremely lucky, when I connected the battery 9.9v, the pump would run for about 1/3 or a second then stop. After that I couldn't get it to start again. I checked, there is no restriction in the flow.

I was wondering if there is any magic or ritual I need to do to get the pump running, or just simply my unit is faulty.

If you find that your system is faulty and you want another, I have the entire hydraulic system, including pump and cylinders I am not using. I swapped mine out for electric. Let me know if anyone would be interested in them.

My hydraulic system still working. I just couldn't get it to pulsating like the manual said. This hydraulic system doesn't really work. If it even does, it will be a lifetime of problems. I will either lock the wing up or will have to convert it to electric. Wondering how much will it cost to convert.

Hey Corsair brothers, is there anyone that is running a cortex gyro in their corsair or does it even need it. I have much experience running them in my Turbines but none in a shaker gas engine. Will be running a Moki 250 in mine.
Regards

hi, does anyone know which 2 strokes engine will fit into the cowl nicely? I have a moki 250 already mounted on the nose but I don't really want to do the daily maintenance. I just want to have an engine that can take abuse like the 2 strokes.
Thanks

DA120 seems to be a popular choice from what I can see. Expect to put alot more nose weight, as even with the Moki, the airplane needs 3-4 lbs of ballast.

I afraid that the DA120 only gives this plane marginal power and it may just be dangerously close to outright under-power. I guess the next size up would be a 200cc quad.
