alright this may sound funny but im just wondering if anyone has ever stuck a multi-cylinder airplane engine in a 1/7-1/8 rc car....i think it would be pretty cool.

I don't think there's any engine mount capable of holding a multi-cylinder engine on any 1:8 chasis...someone has done it (I've seen it here but I don't remember where) but with a single cylinder four stroke engine. Multi cylinder engines have much vibration transfered to the chasis...also they are not capable of high rpm. I don't know if it will work???

Ive seen them running some 1/5 scale cars, but the power curve isnt really correct for cars. They also dont throttle as effectively (since they dont need to)

If you want to do a gas engine in an RC car, its no problem, just go 1/5 scale and you'll have all the power and sound you want. I've even seen a few 1/8 buggies with 23-30.5cc engines in them, but theyre really for novelty as theyre incredibly off balance and heavy for their build.

Either way, use a gas engine meant for cars or trucks. If you're interested head over to the giant scale forum

save your money. the bigger engines dont turn the rpms needed, so unless you put a realy tall gear ratio in it it will be as slow as a truck hualin 10,000lbs uphill

I'm too but for now single cylinder car engines can't be beaten from any multi cylinder out there, especially when we're talking about 1:10 or 1:8 scales.

another thing i like is the r/c truck on the ofna website..it has 2 force .26 engines in it.

2 car engines will work great...ive even seen 3, but unless u have alot of money, time, and the right equipment then it would be kinda hard

Most airplane engines including multi-cylinder engines turn at best ½ the RPM of a car or truck engine if that. Now as far as a twin-engine truck or car you will not go any faster just have better acceleration. All so trying to get both engines in sink is not easy. Many years ago (probably before most where born as I am as old as dirt) they tried twin-engines in dragsters but did not work well and is why they only run one now.

I agree would be a major nightmare but the do it with the tractors they use in tractor pulls

Maybe if he could get them all running in synch...but he only got it up to 81 I believe before he had problems.

The O.S. Pegasus would be cool...it's a flat/opposed 4 cylinder of 3.2 cu.in.
You could make a Porsche 356 or 911 or something along those lines? It would have to be bigger than 1/7 scale though. (maybe 1/6?)

Trust me, they DO exist...
A friend of mine has one as well...and just about all the other Saito twins too...[8D]

Just because Horizon doesn't list it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist...they just dropped it from the line-up is all. Saito has come out with several new engines in the past few years (the .82 and .62 are just 2 examples ) and they have discontinued a bunch of 'em too.
