Default Speed Passion (Endless Brushless Combo) - Exige ESC & RS-540BL1

Hey everybody my package arrived today. It's the Speed Passion Endless Brushess Combo. I got the whole package for $81 brand new. That is a pretty good deal for a brushless ESC and brushless motor. I am going to post a picture first and then some specs. I will be installing it in my M03. I will post a picture of the install and some impressions after running it.

Here are the specs as per the manual.

Input Voltage: 6V - 14.8V DC
NiCd/NiMH 5-12 cell (6V - 14.4V)
Li-Po 2-5 cell (7.4V-14.8V)
Continuous Current: 40A
Max Current: 120A (10 sec)
BEC: 5V/2A
Drive Freq. : 8KHz
Dimensions: 40mm(L) x 28mm(W) x 13mm (H)
Weight: 44g
Recommended motor limits 13.5T or over sensored or sensor-less brushless motor.

(The manual says 13.5T or over motors, but I heard from speed passion it runs 11.5T and over no problem.)

Hey I just got the ESC installed. The ESC and motor came with nice 3.5mm gold plugs (to bad I normally run 4mm) and it also came with Deans plugs for the battery.

Does anyone know or think this BL setup would work good on a traxxas 4 tec? I want some more speed out of my tec. I have seen some 4 tecs with mamba max and sidewonder setup and was nor sure how this would compare.

Thanks tmaxx445

This is not a speed setup. This brushless ESC & engine is set to be equal to a 27T brushed motor. Right now this engine has slightly more RPM than a Novack 13.5T

When I installed this into my M03, the engine screws were to long and it kept the motor from spinning. I had to use a 5mm spacer on the engine screws to shorten them. FYI

When I plugged the motor into the ESC and gave it some gas, it turns out the motor was going backwards. I had to reverse the polarity and plug the red wire into the black and vise versa.

This worries me a bit as I know alot of electronics have reverse polarity protection, I hope I'm not going to ruin my ESC or motor.

how the heck did you get it for that cheap. i just went to their website and the combo cost $252 bucks. thats definitely a steal. i found some no name brand brushless speedcontrol/motor combo for $100 but the speed control was big as a wallet. it is like 70x55x20mm.

Just Ordered Part # EXI33801-PU (Handheld ESC Programming Unit - A.K.A. "The Smart DNA Programing Unit")

I was a little dissapointed with the fit and finish of the programming unit. I had to get it shipped from the UK.
It serves it's purpose and is extremley small and portable.
Has a few options that are nice, but I think it was overprices at 24 Euros.

After I try the features some more I will report back.

So far I am very pleased with the value and function of the ESC and Motor.
The fit and finish is poor and could use some refinement.
This is an excellent combo for anyone bashing who isn't intrested in insane speed.
For those who want to race keep in mind this motor is not ROAR legal and is sensorless (is very similar in performance to Novack 13.5).
Also for those racing the ESC is sensorless and all sensored motors must be run in sensorless mode.

Also wanted to report back that I am unsure if this ESC will run a brushed motor.

I think it will not ... more to come later.
