...don't give out your email address?

Scammers have two ways to contact you through email. One is if you post it in your ads, profile or other public area of the site.

The other method is by going to your account page by clicking on your username in your ad, then click Email. Note, this only allows them to send you an email, it does not expose your email to them. If you respond to the email they send, then they will have your address and can contact you directly without going through this site.

It does if they have their own email server and can harvest the data RCU sends,,, basically using their own email server to send an email to themselves via RCU. Once they have that email address then they send out the spoof email impersonating the RCU message

The way you've explained it in the past RCU send the member's email provider a redirect request, that would have to include the user's email address right?

Am I wrong here?

How else would they have been able to send me this http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/mark...cam-alert.html

If the scammer sends an email to themselves impersonating the RCU server, that does not expose the legit member's email address. Again, the only way they can see your email address is if you give it to them either by posting it in a public place, or by responding to their email.<br />

They sent you that scam message by clicking &quot;Email&quot; in your profile. That tool allows them to send an email to you through this site as I stated in my response when you notified us those messages were being sent out.
