Ugliest recent model car
There are some truly ghastly designs coming out these days, along with some nice ones.
I think the Nissan Cube takes the cake right now for ugliest according to me. I don't think I could make it any less aerodynamic if I tried.

RE: Ugliest recent model car
I'm kind of partial to square-body models, driving an 80's pickup myself, but I must agree that the cube is probably the ugliest model on the market right now.

The biggest problem I have with the Cube is the asymmetrical rear panel. That drives me absolutely bonkers. When I was a kid I had issues with things like off center power bulges in hoods and the fact that most cars didn't have dual exhaust. I know, weird little quirk. As I grew up it didn't bother me anymore, since I learned there were usually functional or financial reasons for the lack of symmetry in these cars, but when I see asymmetrical panels that exist simply to be different, it still bugs me. In fact, Nissan did the same thing with the Xterra having that off center bulge in the rear gate, and that annoyed me too.
On the other hand, at least the headlights aren't the sweeping angular type that nearly every car of the past several years has had. You used to be able to tell many cars apart just by their headlights (and who hasn't memorized the headlight pattern of police cars like the Crown Victoria?) but now nearly every car has an elongated diamond shaped headlight that sweeps from the bumper and grille to the front upper fender, with the blinker often at the upper corner. Of course there are exceptions to this, mostly on trucks, but if you look at many cars designed over the past 5 years or so, you'll find more examples of this than exceptions. But this isn't so much a complaint about ugly as it is a complaint about boring and identical.

The new FJ Landcruiser.
Another failed attempt at "modern retro" looks.
I thought it looked bad in pictures until I saw one in real life.
My god.

I know exactly what you mean.....

I'll be honest when I 1st looked at this thread I thought the nissan cube in the pic was actually a model someone built from a kit, and did a crappy job lol
Just now I noticed the trees reflection in the windows
Think I've seen like one in person, and only the rear at that and thought it looked like a piece of crap

HAve any of you seen the modern half-ton pickups? They're ALL puke-inducingly hideous. The Chevy is just enormous and it looks like it's already been crashed. The Ford isn't much smaller and wears more chrome than a '56 Cadillac. The Dodge looks like the bumper's getting sucked in while the top of the hood is being pushed out, and is usually seen with the flashers on at the side of the road.
Three goose eggs for Detroit right there. My '85 Ford looks better and it's got a three foot long rust gash over the left rear wheel!

My only issues with the Flex's aesthetic are the grille and the coloring of the pillars and roof. If the pillars and roof matched the rest of the bodywork, and the grille wasn't three ginormous chrome strips, I'd actually say it looked pretty good.
I'd -2 the rims and make it a proper RWD SUV though, if I were in a position to make those changes.

Just looks like they did 3 colors just for the sake of doing 3 colors

RE: Ugliest recent model car
Well, I agree with the three half-tons looking pretty bad right now. I love the look of the HD's though, except the bed on the Dodge's, they need some sort of fender flares or something. They do make Ford Flex's in single colors, btw. My friends mom has a white one, and there's three other silver ones in my neighborhood. They look pretty good, IMO.
