Scion xB
I'm taking Driver's Ed when school starts and I need to start thinking about my first 1/1 car. I was thinking about the Scion xB. I like how it looks, it's priced great, good gas mileage. Would it be a good first car?

Dude, how do you like it, the designer of that car has no passion, Its like he saw a brick one day and was inspired to build that thing. If you want a good car with good milage which is also safe and good quality get a second hand VW Golf, or get it new if you have the money

Haha. My friend just got one, I personally hate it thinking its a box. Although its a VERY roomy car. It has absolutly no pick up and is slow. Go for a tC IMO.

It dosent look that bad [&:]
But this is coming from someone who drives a G Class, so my opinion is worthless .
Its basically a Toyota, so it'll never break down. Dosent look to be too heavy on gas...

I think the new one looks like kinda SUV'ish lol um now about the xB its a box on wheels. Rather buy a Mincooper S or Toyota yaris, or 2006 Honda Civic Si.

Back on topic, a good beginner car would be a ferrari, they handle great and they grow as you do, as your experience increases you can switch off the traction control, abs and all that other crap and enjoy it to the max.
If you can't afford a Ferrari at the moment you can wait a little bit as the new baby ferrari (aka ferrari california) is coming out next year and should be quite cheap

RE: Scion xB
imo get the tc. i got one and i love it. of course its not as fast as a mini cooper but the mini cooper costs alot more and weighs alot less. and at about 3000 lbs its a pretty heavy car for its size. but if you are a tall person the tc might not be for you. its not the best when it comes to headroom.
oh and dont forget toyota has a supercharger system for the tc. (im not sure if they have one for the xb or not but i think they do)

Im going for a civic for my own car. Try to buy something cheap for your first car, you dont want to be paying a ton in insurance because the car is new.

its a POS, my neighbor drives one, at 30k the altinator went, at 40k the valve train went, at 50k the transmition switch went, at 80k the coil packs went, at 90k the power steering went, cant wait to see whats next.
and if you look down in the hood, you will find there is no room, repairs will be costly.
get a used volvo, a camry, a dodge stratus, a izusu amigo (if you like small) a geo metro (ugly but if you get the 1.1 liter 4cyl with 5 speed they are peppy and durable and 40mpg) even a honda civic is better.
plus XB's handle poorly and have a choppy ride.

RE: Scion xB
you think thats bad! My neighbour got a honda civic and after day of buying it new, the power steering went, then honda has a built in feature to kill the battery and engine when you crash the car to stop it igniting fuel when you crash, so after a week of replacing the power steering, the switch automatically got tripped to kill the battery and engine when the was parked overnight! Luckily it was under warrenty so the Honda people came to try to fix it, it took the retards 2 weeks.
Then the brake light burns out evey 6 months, and every time its given in for a service somthing has to be replaced.
