Hurricane Gustav
Hello!
We got our food and water, the generator is here, and we're ready to ride this thing like a surfer. Who else is riding this thing out?

The gov't here is enforcing strict laws and focusing on price gouging in gas prices here. They should be a steady 3.59-3.79 until the damage is done on the oil rigs in the gulf. Yay, higher gas prices!

Katrina only gave the city 3in of rain. It was the mayor's bad desicion to build casino's instead of reinforcing the levee's that did it. The storm surge was around 12-15ft.
I know there is a high pressure system over Florida and Texas right now so it will most likely swallow the entire gulf coast. [X(]
And I like Houston, I haven't been there in years but it was a nice city then.

RE: Hurricane Gustav
Gas prices here have already risen $.10 a gallon if not more.
What is this the hurricane forum now?
If we don't get hit by Gustav looks like Hana might take a swing at us.
It looks like next year or the following will be an active year as far as hurricanes go. Since its been 4 years since Ivan and 3Years since Denis. I think there's cycles for active and slow hurricanes seasons I think the cycles are like 4 years or something like that.

They will sky rocket most likely. This storm is planned to be as strong as Katrina and Ascension Parish (same as a county) is where I live and where the strongest region of the storm is projected to strike (northeast region of the storm). This should be fun...
..I'll try and get video on my phone during the storm and post it up for you northerners to see what it's like.

Latest information seems to suggest it will be quite nasty down there, but hopefully the loss of life and injuries will be minimized. One would hope we've learned something from Katrina.

It will certainly be a monster, but Katrina didn't teach me anything I didn't already know. It doesn't take many brain cells to drive north. Hopefully Katrina taught the local, state and the big weak heads of this country, more then it taught me...

RE: Hurricane Gustav
Well, I thought it would be a cat 5 when it entered the gulf, now it's only a cat 3, nothing wrong with that. Shouldn't do a lot of damage, mostly tons of rain from what they say.
I hope everybody in La make it ok and your property doesn't flood/structure damage.
God Bless and may you come out ok!!!
