Default RC Car Market Is Dead Man............

Is it just me or is there really nothing on the market new and exciting worth geting?? every company is just converting there already old cars into electric and not really doing anything new and exciting?!!? Whats going on!!?!?

Litterally the last thing that got my blood going and i bought was the mini e-revo and that was based on a car already on the market!?!? and i lost interest in it after about 2 months and sold the tiny thing.

Now my question is whats the deal!?!? did all these companies throw there R-N-D out the door?? i mean the only people i see still trying to do new things with OUT OF THE BOX ideas is castle creations and they don't manufacture cars. Every other manufacture is just in limbo???

Whats going on!! its time to see a new car, truck, ect!!! if i see another RS4, Savage, Tmaxx, LST2,Revo,Jato,4tec's ect im going to BARF!!!

Sorry about the rant but i know im not the only one that feels this way

I agree, things are a bit slow right now. It's all rehashes of the same platforms or E-conversions. Less innovation than a couple years ago. But it will change back, stuff happens.

Aren't the new Losi micro's pretty new? First micro 4wds...But I know what you mean. I would rather have more of a variety of different types of RC's to choose from than have 7 choices for the same thing.

I too am waiting for the next big thing... The only thing that got me mildly excited was the HPI 1/12 scale trophy truck, but otherwise.... I think nitro needs its next technological jump since it was leapfrogged by electric...

Electric dominated and then nitro dominated and now electric is back on top. I am waiting for a 2 cylinder direct fuel injected v-twin or something like that that will revolutionize the stagnant nitro market. Oh, and it's time for a new crop of monster trucks... The MT market has been stagnant for YEARS...

Am I the only one with the idea of a BRUSHLESS NITRO (hybrid) powered RC car/truck? I personally would like to get back into nitro but with my time limitations, Its just not an option as much as I wanted.

And The #1 thing on the market by far is every single company (even off brands) making a SCT. Thunder Tiger has this sick 1/5 bike coming to or on the mark, Aside from it being brushless powered, its the most "up to date" thing Ive seen on the market so far

It's kind of like real cars...change the the body a little, add a handful of new features, and call it new.

Tamiya needs to hurry up and re-release more vintage awesomeness. It's nothing new, but they're something different from another SC truck.

I'm actually fed up of re-re's, especially bodies.. the Alpine A110, BTCC Volvo 850, TCR Berlina Corse, Honda S800, Honda Accord, Peugeot 406ST, etc.

What annoys me more is Tamiya releasing RWD cars on Front Drive chassis... just release a new/updated RWD M-Chassis... [:@]

on the plus side the F104 looks great, DF03RA is popular, MAN TGX was a cool release, and the FF03 was completely unexpected! [8D]

I understand the sentiment, I really do.
But, from a buisness standpoint, inovation means spending money on r&d which is very expensive and guarentees nothing in the way of income. By taking older platforms, revising/combining/refreshing/updating, etc, companies can produce vehicles with provenparts that are somewhat different w/o the cost of from-scratch r&d. During lean times this kind of practice can provide needed revenue to keep a company alive until times improve and there's money available for advanced r&d.
Besides, I'd bet the r&d has not stopped completely but companies are bound to be very careful about introducing something "groundbreaking". All it would take is one misstep and a new product launch could easilly bring a company to ruin.
Personally, I'd rather put up with some less than earthshaking vehicles than lose 1, 2 or 3 companies in an already thin manufacturer market.

With the economy in it's current state, hobby retailers are reluctant to stock all of the parts necessary to support a new latest and greatest vehicle.

From the manufacturers standpoint, if the hobby retailers won't stock the parts it's better to re-fresh the old stuff that the retailer already has parts to support.

The internet and Hobby King has removed all of the profit in the hobby business. It costs money to develop manufacture and distribute new stuff. If the money is not there don't expect to see the stuff.

In a strange sort of way, at some point more competition means LESS profit, LESS selection and LESS innovation.

Look at it this way. If everyone in the car business made $200.00 on every car they sold they would be eager to manufacture and stock new stuff. If they make $20.00 on every car what's the point?

There is a price to pay for the constant pursuit of the lowest price.

I dont think it's dead but the horrible economy isnt helping matters none.
Everything is getting expensive.

Local gas stations have switched to different brands of gasoline.
Glad I stocked up on parts and stuff beforehand. Or I'd be paying twice the price for what I have now.

And another thing HOBBY KING, or aka HOBBY CITY is forcing people to pay for remanufactured Chinese junk.
I admit people at the track use alot of hobby king stuff, thats because LHS are stocking HOBBY KING esc's and batteries.
I saw the TERNEGY packs in the LHS the other day.

Now if LHS stock that stuff, then that's costing the name brand companies alot of money. I dont think it's fair myself.

and don't forget that RC is absolutely 100% discretionary income. Caster sales are slightly higher for the year so we are happy as can be, but of course, we wish our volume was much higher. I think our 1/10 will make an impact in the areas where it is popular.

Hobby is dead? Losi has more cars than they ever have, Traxxas sponsors full size trophy trucks and holds an event, Associated is selling tons of SC stuff and just released the TC6, Tamiya finally released its very first ESC...

Doesn't seem dead to me...

Just because the main companies are still selling the same stuff doesn't mean new stuff isn't coming out... RC4WD has a TON of new stuff, caster racing has a pretty retarded buggy with an exposed spur gear... read an RCCA, you will see it just packed with new things.

Mud Blaster. Once they re-re the original Blackfoot, they've already got the Brat body available, including the polycarbonate version.
