Default Config for GWS warbird with 400 motor..

I am going to be getting a GWS warbird (Me-109) and want to get the 400 motor...
I am fairly new to e-flight and how to match some things up and am slowly learnin.

With this warbird I was wondering what the best prop/gear/battery would be with the GWS ME-109 and a 400 motor (since I heard the 300 drops hard in the turns[:'(] and I dont want to lose too much altitude when performing manuevers)

The gears on gws-online for the 400 are the 1S, AS, CS. ES. GS... and I was thinking a 1080 prop... but i am not sure...

Which motor did you get with the kit? The EPS300C or the EPS350C?

I think I got the eps300c, the more I look, the more i think it will be heavy and under powered, Ive I was at sealevel it may not be a big deal, but at 4500 ft, may hurt me. I may bite the bullet and wait to get a brushless set up, but that forces me to get the esc, the lipo battery, then of course a lipo charger, oh the agony

I hear ya... going brushless is a huge step in cost... although it really is worth it eventually...

I think im going to end up going with the 400... A friend of mine has the P51 with the 300 motor and has stated he would like more power definately... but the debate is up for the better motor in this situation.. the 350 or the 400...

I have a GWS Spitfire, flying it with the 400 motor, a 3S1P 1500 Electrifly Lipo, and a 10X6 prop. Good performance, had to add a bit of weight up front to be slightly nose heavy. I put a GWS heat sink on the motor for weight and cut off the bottom of the cowling so it would fit, just the right amount of weight. Painted the heat sink to match the bottom of the plane and not really noticeable in flight.

Do you have any "glide-ability" left with that 400 in front?

Tends to pick up speed pretty quickly in "glide" mode. Seriously, haven't done a lot of that, flies well at low speed but haven't really tried to glide that much. Will try it a bit more next time I fly and give some feedback.

That would be great to know. I was really thinking about sticking with the 350C motor after reading some more forums on it and how the 400 tends to be pretty hefty... but if I end up glassing it... i may need the extra oomph... but i would still want to retain some slow fly characteristics
