    Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B

    Parkzone just released the spitfire in United Kingdom!


    Designed to be the most accurate ready to fly electric Spitfire on the market today! The Parkzone Spitfire is based on the early Mk 2 Spitfire that played a pivotal role during the Battle of Britain. This stunning model has a host of super scale detail with a true eliptical wing, accurate RAF 603Sqdn codes and the early dark earth and green camouflage.

    Two flight modes are available via the included ZX10 radio system with 3 wire servos ,a sedate steady mode and full aerobatic for those fantastic loops and victory rolls.The Parkzone Spitfire is authentically finished as a Mk11B the aeroplane looks fantastic and should fly for around 10-15 mins on the included nicad but it is also compatible with 3 cell li-poly batteries.

    Yeah I was wondering why??? Not too much longer to wait though. Looks a bit 'weak' to me, sorta like the mustang but it has killer looks!

    not physics, it's money.
    Bigger more powerful set up is needed to spin a 3 or 4 blade prop and get same performance that they get with the current 2 blade system. More money for a motor, esc, and pack to handle the increased load, would mean more passed on costs to the consumer.
    What they give you is adequete, ok some may say it's not, but more then that just means you end up paying more.

    if you want the cost to stay in the 179.00 range that why bigger prop or more blades means more motor i like parkzone i have the 51 and 190 with lipos cant go wrong for the money and iam sure ill buy the spit that my all time fav cant wait to bad it wasn't before XMAS

    yes, yes and yes...concur with gg's comments above...it's got a lot to do with rpms and prop efficiency...everything else being equal (prop size, motor, battery, etc), a motor will turn a 2 bladed prop at higher rpm than a 3 or 4...current (amp draw) will increase as the motor works harder trying to spin the 3-4 bladed prop to the same rpm as the 2 blader...even with an extra blade or two, if the prop isn't spinning fast enough, the benefits sought are not derived...3 and 4 bladed props are also more prone to breakage on belly landers...they sure look cool though...

    have to say i like the idea of having a spitfire, but when i saw parkzone released thew spitfire i though the detail would be greater than that seen on the focke wulf or the mustang, truthfully i think it is worse.
    still looks good though, even without landing gear

    P-38 should be their next plane but I doubt that they would go for a twin engine plane since they keep dumping in the same electronics and motors for all their war birds. Makes sense from a cost of development standpoint. Cannot beat the looks of a P-38 though.

    When will they release the Spit in the US?
    I never crash while flying, it\'\'s the landings that get me.

    Same electronics? It comes with a reusable ZX10 radio system with 3 wire servos and optional servo reversing and T-tail/V-tail options, not with the same five wire stuff. You can find it on ebay but, it will cost you $246.70. I haven't heard anything about parkzone releasing it in the US yet.

    Hey guys, have a look at - www.modelflight.com.au

    Its an Australian Hobby shop, but most of their business is done via post - they have the spitfires in stock, as well as airframes with no electronics.

    and i know they ship to north America, because i had some stuff sent to me when i was living in Canada.

    As far as the prop discussion goes....... the other reason for the 2 prop, is that without landing gear the 2 prop will move out of the way on landing most of the time. 3 or 4 props wont do this..... as i found out a long time ago with my balsa mustang. RIP

    Cant beleive they released the spitfire, i have been hanging out.... but finally bit the bullet and brought the FW-190....... 3 weeks later - SPITFIRE!!!!

    Hey mezd, that's a great price, I wasn't going to pay that much for it on ebay. With the shipping to US, it $237.44 that's less then the price above on ebay without shipping. I was going to call or email HH or PZ for info on a US release to save $58.44 in shipping.

    No problems, their conversion rates are really good too... works out cheaper in US dollars than it does for me to buy here in Aus!!

    I have decided i am going to bite the bullet and buy a spitfire aswell... will pull the electronics out and put my own gear in, then put the new gear out of the spitfire into my FW-190.

    Just check though, that the radio is set up the same as you use - i know sometimes them set up the throttle on different sticks here in Aus. throttle and airleron on right hand stick, elevator on the left.

    The Parkzone Spitfire is in the US Mid February, 2007! I don't know if you have a choise of radio it comes with because, I've seen pic's with the two stick 5-AP and the one stick ZX10 with the Spit.

    I know that here in Oz, id definantly comes with the 2 stick... feels quite nice to hold, unlike the previous radio i got with the FW. that just feels like a flimsy bit of plastic! But for the price i wasnt complaining!

    The international version of the Spitfire is sold with the green 2 stick radio. The ones in the USA will come with the black single stick radio.

    I know this is late but here is an answer three and four bladed props are less effecient. The increased blades create more drag and weigh more. The reason people use them on airplanes is that you need them for ground clearence. I have also heard that at higher altitudes three and four bladed props are more efficient in the thinner air. So idealy the most efficent propellers are single bladed propellers with a counter weight on the other end because of the reduced drag.
