OK, thanx man. All i want out of this plane is for it to fly slow and long, and fly on thoughs floats. Thats it. Needs to be reliable. Thats why i went with himax. I know i can run twice the max burst amps and it'll still run fine. Just like an AXI. but i still don't know what battery to throw on it..... I need a scale and a watt meter.... lol.

Luv2 - Hiya!! Cos you will be going off water I reckon a 3S is the way to go, a bit more ooomph for lift off. I would go for a 1700 3S, its just that bit lighter than the 2200Mah and again gives you less weight hence more punch, but you'll still get flight times of 15 minutes. It will also help if you decide to mount a camera later. Hope this helps.....

Ya man, thanx! I don't want to mount a camera on this slow stick. I want this one to fly slow... so low wingloading. I'm going to get anthor and modify with lots of carbon fiber and a power 10 eflite with a castle creations controller and a 2250 3cell predator.(have all thoughs things lying around!! 15mins is really along time to sit there and fly.... Heck, i fly my u-can-do 3d with a suprass II .70 with the stock tank for only 8 mins with loads of hovering, rolling harriers, etc, and high throttle setting and have 2/3 of a tank left! * mins is awhile to fly for.... i could fly that thing for about 30min with a low low throttle setting i guess. Idk, i don't wana spend all my time on the bench charging... i wana fly when i want, for as long as i want.....(every rc pilots dream right?? )

Luv2 - THATS what its all about!!! Leccy flight has that advantage, turn up, turn on and fly on cloud 9, non-polluting (almost!!), and accessible.

Love Cloud 9 - but what happened to clouds 1 to 8???

Wow man thanks. Ya i am still busy with my other projects so this one gets neglected.(and cause i don't have all the stuff to sit down and make it fly....[motor, battery, 2.4 micro reciever, etc]) Did you guys use some other rods?? mine are to short i think... idk, the manual says for the front of the front wing mount to be 135mm to 140mm back from the front of the fuse. If i put my wing there and hook up the linkage, my servos would hit the wing... [sm=confused.gif]

Calvino - what motor is it and what size shaft is it (3mm??). Let us know and we might have an answer for you - do you have an electric drill?

Hey, anyone think 100 watts of power will lift a 13oz SS with gear or a 1 pound SS with floats?? I think it will. IDK, i want to get that light 2808 himax(1.6oz) instead of the 2812(2.?oz) for 2 reasons. 1.) It's cheaper. 2.) I want to run the BL-12 speed control instead of uping it to a CC Phenix 25. I know you can run it with the BL-12 if you run the right prop but i want to pick a prop that falls under the specs AND is right for me.

I have been fiddling with my SS a bit and finally have decided to stick with the 1100kv Suppo motor, with a 8 x 6 GWS prop, BP 18A ESC and 2 HS 55's all powered by a CSRC 11.1V 1250mAh lipo. The entire setup takes orders from the AR6000 RX coupled to the DX6. Inverted flights and multiple loops are not uncommon and the only downfall found so far is the wind when over a steady 10mph makes flight very hard to smoothly control.
I also have a GWS Estarter with the same motor but larger ESC and running a APC 9 x 6 prop. I am currently learning on my sim how to roll the Estarter and would really like to know if anyone have been able to roll thier SS. Without ailerons I am sure one could do it, but not sure how to accomplish it. My flight sim doesn't have a SS available (FS One ver. 1.0.9) nor have I heard they will ever offer one.
My personal challange to all SS fliers............... Video of a SS doing rolls without the AIL mod. Just rudder and Elevator. Can it be done??????

Hey Luv2........that is a GWS aluminum stick mount, I bought them at my LHS. You get 2 in a package for $4 and includes all screws and washers to mount the motors to it. You do have to supply your own screws/bolts for the mount to stick but I buy the cheapo machine screws at my hardware store for about 20 cents a piece with nuts and washers. Locktite is your friend for these, as losing a motor in midair isn't really good for successful landings....heh.
I would think that anyone who sells GWS planes and parts like www.bphobbies.com would carry them. Not sure of what you have for hobby shops in your area but would be easy enough to ask them to start stocking a few for you. In nose in crashes they bend pretty easy but are really easy to straighten out and adjust.

A top of a loop snap roll? I got my Micro cessna tu to that. Maybe when I had the bp-21 on the ss.

Here's a video of the Bug.
