Jett Q 500 engine
Hi
Can anyone please tell me, if there is any performance difference between the BSE and cast case Jett Q500 engines.
Thanks
Geoff

Yes, it depends on which version of Q500 one is referring to - the 428 engine was available in long stroke if I remember correctly. The 426 engine being used these days is not.
There was a short stroke BSE Q500, I have one. Never raced with it, we started flying 426 around this part of the country instead of 428.

A few years ago, my team-mate Chuck had the Jett LS Q500 engine radar in the SAM-RAI Q500 that hit more than 185 MPH at Whittier Narrow Park, CA during practice while experimenting with different props. The engine was strong but it didn't last since it ate the dirt coming around pylon 3 during its early heat race. This was the cast case LS version.
On paper the numbers are the same, but whichever you choose to go with, good luck, have fun and make the best of it.
Hope this helps.
