FWIW, you might also try a 9 x 7 APC.
Most Sport Quickie (AMA event no. 424) racing events require a 9 x 6 APC, which is definitely the best for the Thunder Tiger -- the predominate engine among clubs that specify one engine by brand. But the ST is a little more torquey and doesn't unload quite as much as the TT. So, depending on the day, you may get a little more out of it with the 9 x 7.

idivein... The ST 40 is it the sport's 40 or Q40? If it's the Q40 7.4x8 APC carbon and the short Ultra pipe (This being the true Nelson pipe)Grey 8.75x8.25 with long Nelson pipe. If sport's 40 APC like a previous poster said they are very torqee motor APC 9x7. IN this racing class that you guy's are doing are you aloud to go up in prop if so try a Bolly (brown in colour) 10.5x6.5 you will notice a differance especially if your plane is lite more thrust. I run ST 's alot G45 on standard muffler Bolly 10.5x6.5 total magic sport's engine.
