Super Tigre .61 2 stroke
Hello all! I have a super Tigre .61 mounted in a Carl goldburg super chipmunk, and as I start it up it runs backwards! Note I bought this set up used! Any and all ideas of the problem and solution will be appreciated!! Thanks!

Let's be sure we are clear on which way it's actually running. If you're standing in front of the airplane, backwards would be clockwise. Is that what's happening? If so, 2 stroke engines can do that and it's not a problem. Most of the time if you'll just work the throttle open and closed a couple of times it will reverse. Occasionally you'll have to stop it and restart it to get it going forwards.

Are you hooking up your starter right? Red to red and black to black? I was always taught not to take the obvious for granted. If these are opposite it will start your engine backwards.

They are plugged up right, I fired it up and it pushed my plane backwards off of my table luckily It didn't fall off, so are you saying I should just let it run that way and it will correct its self?

Its totally normal for an out of tune engine to fire in reverse, simply stop the motor and re-start it, once the carburetor is tuned that problem usually goes away, but it can still happen now and then even with a well tuned engine.

Plus 1 on running baqckwards.....make sure your starter is turning clockwise as you look at the cone, which would be CCW as it touches the spinner.

Not an uncommon problem. One solution is to flick it backwards and it will ruin in the correct direction.
Standard practice on small Cox engines.
