Putting them outside is really only a factor with a carbon fiber fuselage. The CF is a pretty good blocker of the 2.4ghz signal, so you need antennas outside of it to get good reception.

Like the guy before me said, on a balsa or foam plane, just keep it inside. 2.4 Ghz is a beautiful thing. Years ago we had to run the antennas outside , or loose your plane. Unless you have a lot of cf in your plane, just run them where it's convenient for you. I usualy run a satellite receiver down to the tail as I'm building the plane. BTW, nice looking decathlon. Who makes it? I just picked up a seagull super decathlon 120, and a DLE 30 to power it. Good luck, Steve

P.S. the DLE 30 is WAY over powered for that model, but I have other planes for the 30 as well. Just in case you were actually wondering. Lol.
