I need to replace my Top Flite Heat Gun which recently quit working, can I use any Heat Gun other than the Top Flite Model to work with Monokote/Ultrakote, etc?

As long as it's for model use, I use heat guns at work that would be way too hot. While a hair dryer is too cold

Yes, just for grins I tried my wifes hair dryer on Chinakote, {Hobby King Covering} and it is so low temp the dryer worked very well.

All I use is my commercial heat gun and am careful to watch how close I get to the material. Works just fine.

I gave up on the hobby grade heat guns. They cost to much and dont last that long. I have been using a cheap Harbor Freight one for 4 years now.

Average cost of a heat gun is about 20 bucks at Hobby People. I had one that was close to 20 years old until I dumbed it up. I did the dumb by getting it into tight corners to soften up epoxy to remove parts and the back draft tends to over heat them.You would think I would learn but I have burnt out a couple of them, just never when used for covering. Those heat guns from Harbor Freight are great but they are paint strippers, perfect for softening up epoxy to remove parts that may be in the wrong place.
