UFO CA
Fellow Builders,
Due to CA alergies, I am trying the UFO brand of thin CA for the first time. So far I am not all that impressed. It takes a lot longer to cure and the pieces to be joined must be very tightly clamped. I can live with that, HOWEVER, I'm not so sure I can trust this stuff on CA hinge installs.
Anyone have experience/advise/recommendations?
Thanks....

RE: UFO CA
I used UFO for quite a while, and noticed the same things you have. But, I never had a CA hinge come loose using it. Unless you count that unfortunate flutter incident....
Seriously, I used it on a few giants and never had a problem. Like you said, it takes longer to cure, but when it does, it will hold.

RE: UFO CA
I tried a bottle of it some years ago, so I could use it on sheeted foam wings to add the LE and TE. I wasn't impressed either. Bad shelf life, slow to cure, and never felt like I could really trust it.
I wonder if one of the normal paint-spraying masks would help you with the CA allergies?

RE: UFO CA
That's what I started using when my source for UFO went away. It works fairly well, but I still get a whiff of the glue every once in a while. But I found that if I take an allergy pill, like Tylenol Allergy and Sinus, the next morning, it usually clears up any symptoms within a couple of hours. CA only gives me a runny nose. Some people have it much worse.

RE: UFO CA
Thanks joebob and Azcat59. I use a resipator with organic filters, but I still get a whiff or two and that's it takes to get me sneezing and congested for the next day-day &1/2. I'll use up the remainder of the UFO bottle to give it a fair shake.
