Default Irvine 46 Vertical Prop?

Best prop for an irvine 46?

I have it on a Black horse Super air. I want MAX vertical if not unlimited on this engine?

Would you recommend the 12.25x3.75 or 12x4?

When you say vertical do you mean pull out of a hover or just vertical speed?

Both props you mentioned are good choices. No one can tell which one will be best on your plane. The plane will have to tell you that!

Are you talking about pulling out of a hover or from a normal forward flight ?

The two props you mentoned are ideal for hover/3D stuff. However I suspect that you might do just as well with an APC 11 x 5 from forward flight.

I would go with a higher pitch prop than the ones you mentioned.

You might try one of each size of those props as they are not that expensive - see which does best when flying the plane.

Why?

As I understand props the higher the pitch the less speed but the more pull as in vertical.....however if you want vertical you need to either lighten the airplane, or increase the size of the engine...there is only so much a prop can do..perhaps a 55AX

Those two fly a lot different from each other, but either might work. You can also try the 11.5x4 APC. I'd try the 12x4 last as the other two have much more thrust.
