composite material
Hello
Ive had a crazy idea and I want to manufacture some carbon fiber/graphite shock towers, servo saver top plate, and centre diff mount top plate for my TTR EB4. Does anyone know where I can buy some 3mm thick carbon fiber or graphite sheets that i could craft them out of(an online store where i can get stuff shipped internationally). The material would have to be the strongest possible like the stuff aftermarket companies use. If anyone has any experience with this type of thing, or knows reasons why it would be just plain stupid please say, just thought it would be fun to try, I know composites have a larger chance of damaging than the CNC on my buggy at the moment but I dont have a particularly stressful track. And if it breaks its not the end of the world. If anyone knows where i can buy aftermarket composite parts for the EB-4 S2 Pro could you please help me out too, the only place I have seen good aftermarket stuff is Fioroni and its CNC and probaly not much lighter or stronger than the stuff I have at the moment, although it does look cool :P (but the money could be spent better on tires/fuel, or new shocks).
Just a thought
Alden
P.S i think is saw some carbon fiber sheets before but can't remember where it was

RE: composite material
Sounds like a dodgy school. I've been working in composite Manufacture and repair on aircraft for over 10 years and would never even contemplate going near a bandsaw with it. The risk of inhaling the carcenegenic dust puts me off that idea, also the saw would pull the threads from the weave thus damaging the composite.

But I know it's not made for high impact areas. Thats it's weakness and why I dont use it. I prefer the aluminium parts for there ability to soak up the shock of big landings.

Dude, we don't get dudes in the U.K unless you're seven and watching the teenage mutant ninja turtles when everything seems 'totally radical'

Cringe... I almost had a heartattack, The only possible plae that takes no shock is the diff plate on a Hyper 7. Every other plate is stressed, which is why they are so strong. Composites snap to easily for these positions, I'ae seen people cry when they found out how much it will cost to replace all the C/F plates. And C/F shock towers (I know they exist) but ARE YOU MAD? If the ally ones bend, how many spare C/F ones are you going to buy.

Hahahaha! I think they use "mates" when talking about friends, and blokes for god knows! I have heard both used on one person once from one of my co-workers.
As far as C/F parts are concerned, I stay away from those like the black plague! If I were to be seen with one, I must have bought it when I was severely drunk and vomiting chunks of C/F! HAHAHAHA! BLOODY MARVELOUS SIGHT IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN!!
Cheers to our comrads in the UK!
