High pitch squeal from ESC
I have a Novak 610-RV ESC in a boat project I'm working on. When I hook up the motor I get a high pitched squeal from the ESC. The motor is a MRP MS-1 pro marine series. What would cause this, and what do I do to fix it? Thanks peeps.

RE: High pitch squeal from ESC
Does it squeal, the moment you hook it up, or if the motor starts to run?
With some types of ESC, you can actually hear the electronics work through the turns on the motors anchor, what you hear is the frequency, the ESC works on (3000Hz for instance, is a common value, and we hear it as "peeeeep".)

RE: High pitch squeal from ESC
This happens as soon as I hook up the wires to the motor, without giving it any throttle. When I give it a throttle the noise is still there. Also when I have the motor hooked up directly to the battery it runs like a raped ape, but when it goes through the speed controller it seems like it's running alot slower. I will check my throttle trim and see if that makes any difference. Thanks!

RE: High pitch squeal from ESC
According to the manufacturers site your type ESC went out of production in '92, that makes it at least 12 years old.
Given the fact that electronic components age too, there could be something wrong with your ESC.
Maybe it's possible to have it checked by your local dealer?
