Best way to drill through a stringer is start with a small drill for a pilot hole (small enough to stay within the stringer) then drill the size you need, sometimes I'll even use 2 drills to stay within the stringer then do my final bore. Sanding the stringer, usemasking tape (the thick blue stuff) on each side of the stringer that way you won't be sanding foam, you can double up on the masking tapetoo if its a big hump.
Hope it helps Later BB

P.S. Use a brush endon a vacume to remove foam dust before you tape, it will stick alot better.

The Maui Vid, Definitely Has The Maverick / Jaws Wave Taste.

I can personally say that even 3 foot faces do not make me want to throttle out in that small size anymore.
Back in the day as a 12 year old grom, I would want to real surf anything.
As I Got Older, Even Living right on the beach, I got picky.
Swell direction wrong / wind wrong / tide wrong ...
I guess it comes with older age, or just more experience ?
Surfers In My Block would surf anything just to get wet. I just developed a bigger taste for better waves.
If it was onshore and mushy, I chose to rather cut the grass instead of surf.

When I started Rc Surfing I wanted To Surf Anything.
But after 5 years into it, I just want to hit bigger waves at least 4 -6 foot faces.

The Play Time Is Fun, The Survival Challenge Is The Real Deal.
I could get a stock NQD to have a blast on 3 foot faces...

Shame Curls.......that's so sad......well, at least your lawn is always mowed......sure wish you were my neighbor...........LOL

Its awesome moments like these that keep me 'surfing' 3ft face........rather than mowing lawns .........its harder to make it happen on the small fast stuff..........

Regarding your critique on the video, The Board you mention, was a modified NQD, Not The New Model.
From a trained eye, it would show the board ran great and it was a difficult maneuver to attempt.
I was going to approach the barrel but saw the wave was closing out on the left, so I tried to reverse
my position and go back to ride the right of the peak. I nearly pulled it off.

It will be interesting to sea if you still have the stoke to rc surf and video small wave dayz on a weekly basis Five years from now. I'm just looking to achieve the next level of extreme rc surfing, more on the mj scale

Im not dumping on any ones stoke, its just my opinion on what wave size motivates me to rc surf. As far as bro #2 video. No one surfed anything at 3 foot face. It was much bigger, and my board cranked on the biggest set waves at least 6 - 8 foot faces. Not sure what you are looking at, not sure when you term "we" as wanting to lable something. It seems some still do not calculate wave FACE size properly. For those that need reference, its page 229.123/75.23

Hey Surfcurls,

Not looking for an argument but was just wondering how your little 6 cell NiMh powered 26" board is ever gonna perform on the MJ scale as you call it.
Even if your new boards are made from foam and glass MJ and Kitty are running 4S & 5S boards nearly a foot longer with big motors and props and with huge Dudes standing on them.
Do you intend to scale up your new models by 30% in the near future?

Just curious.

JIMI

My ni mh set up even surprised mj on the speed, performance and run time. Its all about the proper set up to balance the correct motor / prop and other elecs to the board. My board can fit a 5s lipo and huge motors, as i designed the hull to let anyone fit anything they want. Weight can be added,. Its easier to add weight, than subtract.

Meanwhile back to the HELPFUL posts!!! A topic was brought up about sealing the battery from corrosion (don't do this with NmHi or NiCd batterys)and if you didn't know it alreadyby now, salt water eats things up FAST, but not everything is corrosive to salt water and some materials are resistent. So as rc surfers we need to think about prevention or slowing down the prosses of corrosion.

Fresh water Bottle: On my Beach Box I have a comercial/Industrail (all hardware stores should have these)Spray bottle that has an ajustable nozzel from stream to mist ajustment. Aftrore I come in from my surf session, I give the whole surfer a good fresh water shower and aSTREAM spray around the hatch cover, this gets all the sand, sledge, seaweed and salt water OFFMYBOARD so when I open the hatch, we're all good.

In the Surf Box I carry just a couple paper towels with a clothes pin to hang anddry the paper towels while I'm surfing. Paper towels are strong and very absorbent these days and easy to use over and over, very handy from soaking up water quickly to cleaning a greasy, sandy drive shaft.

Another helpful tool in the surf box is WD40 can't say enough about this! you can buy small and compact2oz. cans, these handy little life saverscan save your electrics in a heart beat, esspecally when things go wrong inside the hatch, motor jacket leaks, to hoses poping off and wires gettingcaught under the hatch seal.A good wash out with fresh water and then a good spray with WD40 let it set for 10 min. then a good wipe down andyou could be back surf'en to save the day. When you get home, take things apart and cleanit good!!!
WD40's name came from Water Displacement 40th formula.

Another thing I've been doing lately is adding a RC Car Fuel filter to the intake side of the cooling tube, I use the1/8 scale size filter, thekind that you unscrew and clean out.For those of us that surf beach breaks alot, sand granuels can very in size and I've had afew occasions where sand and very small pieces of whatever get stuck in my cooling system, causing overheating let alone to remove a water cooling jacket from a motor with sand granuels stuck between the jacket and motor making it areal pain in the ***** to get apart and usually cut the "O"ring.

Afew things to think about, hope it helps.
Later Dudes BB

Great tips BB

The water filter is a great one.......used to use a sand filter on our jetski's......saved huge issues with cleaning out the cooling system.

In my opinion, That's the perfect time to Mow The Lawn.

Here's a Bro #2 Pic, I'm pretty sure this wave face is over 3 feet, Board Handled great.
I guess you should have been there ....

Howzit Curls...

Awesome picture ! I'll give that wave a 4ft face rating....your board and surfer in at 1ft....

My Bro Surfer has a slightly 'bigger' presence than the Production boards.... which can be a little misleading.

great tips from BB again.....

I have a tomatoe sauce squeezy bottle (sometimes two)that work much like BB's sprayer.... best bit is that its nozzle fits over the outlets of my cooling tubes and asqueeze of fresh water up them gives a nice reverse flush through the cooling systems.... if grovelling in the shoredump a squeezy flush after every batt lets me know if all is clear too

WD40..... as BB states its good stuff.... Check it out it has 101 uses everywhere......as a mechanic its been good to me forever..... apparently is based off fishoil so you can even eat it (not for lunch but after vigourous sprayin rusty bolts to loosen them up ive tasted it lots... hmm yum no.... just sayin)
INOX is even better but more expensive.... not sure if you can eat that stuff but.

Mowing the Grass........ i would rather run 4 batts at the boatramp thancut grass......... evenin a stock nqd

Should we rather call you JAY from now on ?
[b]Bro rcSirfer. ...

You said you saw the Chasing Mavericks movie? The Thought to Call "Me" as "Jay" referring to Jay Moriarity is disrespectful to his name. Please Stop.
The Fact That Mr. Mavericks (Jeff Clark - Contacted Me on A Big Wave Project Rc Board) Is a Stoke. Not sure who is "We". I bet you are alone on this one.

You now what Curls......I am genuinely tired of constantly being dragged into your childish games - all the time......

From now on I will 'no longer' contribute any of my advise- experiences or build process's on this forum due to your constant slagging - i will simply use RCU to SHOW -OFF my surf videos, as others do, excluding yourself of course.

Any one who would like advise or info- please PM myself and I will be all to pleased to contribute any any which way.

To Sell products, there are various websites, a simple google search will find them.
I learned long ago, this is not the place. the www. links on pix is against RCU Rules

I admit, I am guilty of feeling I have to defend my opinions and products when They
get pushed around. Saying I don't wish to surf 1 - 3 foot faces should not offend anyone.
Then to be told my boards can't handle a 3 foot face is ridicules...

When I mention a possible Mavericks Board, It's offensive to me that I should be called J.

It would be similar, to someone not liking a post you made, stating you may make a board for waimea
and suggesting you be called Eddie.

Respect is not a game, but should be shared ...
